Inspired by actual events, a carefree night of thrills and temptation takes a sinister turn when a group of friends stumble upon an ancient curse.

As shadows close in and desire gives way to dread, they realize something malevolent is hunting them. To survive until dawn, they’ll have to confront not only the evil outside, but the darkest fears buried within themselves.

Marcel Walz (Blood Feast, Blind) directs from a script by Marc Gottlieb (Aquarium of the Dead) and Michael P. Call.

Robert Craighead (The Return of the Living Dead), Ramiro Leal, Bix Krieger (V/H/S/Beyond), Esmeree Sterling, Erika K. Marks, Kasia Szarek, Theo Rosenfeld, Brandon Papo, Monte Pittman, Nicholas Olbina, Dean Benfit, Olga Loera, and Joseph Gatt (“Game of Thrones”) round out the ensemble.

The indie horror film is currently in production for a 2026 release.

Last Halloween, Screambox delivered an exclusive treat in the form of Creeping Death. This year, the supernatural slasher’s soundtrack is coming.

Listen to two tracks exclusively below ahead of the full score’s release on streaming services tomorrow.

Composed by Ian Brown and writer-director Matt Sampere, “Love at First Scythe” is an atmospheric synth cue in the vein of John Carpenter, while “Pumpkin Smash” is a loving send-up to the perennial classic “Monster Mash.”

“While writing Creeping Death, I constantly had the haunting scores of John Carpenter in my ears. His music helped me find the tone, emotion, and rhythm that shaped the story,” Sampere tells Bloody Disgusting. “As a musician, I knew I wanted to be deeply involved in the soundtrack. I teamed up with my longtime friend Ian Brown, who also plays Tramer in the film, and we locked ourselves in his home studio for over a month during the winter of 2023.”

“Working on the Creeping Death soundrack with Matt was an unforgettable experience that blended creativity, passion, and late-night inspiration,” Brown adds. “From the start, we aimed to make the music more than just background; we wanted it to pulse with the film’s dark energy and emotion. Matt’s ear for tone and texture pushed me to explore new sounds and layers, and together we built something that feels alive, haunting, and cinematic.”

In the film, Halloween was always Tim’s favorite holiday… until his mother was diagnosed with brain cancer. Now, all he wants is a quiet night in. That is quickly disrupted when his friends pay him an unwanted visit after stealing a mysterious sack from the doorstep of a local crazy.

This sacrilegious act unleashes the Aos Si, a Celtic entity that walks the earth on Halloween. The friends must band together and survive the night or make the ultimate offering — their lives.

Sampere and Brown star with Monique Parent, Scott Lea, Delian Lincourt, Hunter Kohl, Jody Pucello, Elise Rackemann, K Cody Hunt, and Alan Maxson.

Art the Clown actor David Howard Thornton has provided an update on Terrifier 4, which is still in the scripting stage from writer-director Damien Leone.

“I’m very excited, but I don’t know a whole lot, because this time around Damien has been keeping everything very close to his vest about what’s happening in the script,” Thornton tells Slasher Radio.

“Lauren [Lavera], Samantha [Scaffidi], and I, in the past when he’s been writing the other scripts, he’s been consulting us the whole entire time, running ideas by us. This time, he’s been pretty much silent.”

Thornton continues, “He just goes, ‘Oh yeah, you’re gonna love the origin story, Dave. You’re gonna love how we do it.’ And he said also, ‘The finale is bat-shit insane. You’re gonna have a lot of fun with that.” Other than that, I don’t know, but that makes me excited.”

Will the fourth installment bring the franchise to an end? Thornton weighs in, “I feel like this might be the finale of this story arc that [Leone]’s going with for right now and might give it a rest for a few years and might return later on to it. I have no idea, but I’m excited nonetheless.”

He adds, “I have so much faith in him.”

Leone previously said the script is “shaping up to be the most epic, horrifying, thrilling, emotional and satisfying conclusion to the Terrifier saga.” He also confirmed Art’s backstory will be revealed in the opening 15 minutes.

While we wait for Terrifier 4, Art the Clown is available in Fortnite as of today and Terrifier: The ARTcade Game comes out November 21.

Meanwhile, Thornton’s upcoming horror films include The Dead Place, The Autopsy of Albert Kemper, Screamboat 2, and Stream 2.

Terrifier launched 2016, followed by Terrifier 2 in 2022. Terrifier 3 opened at #1 at the box office last October, becoming the highest grossing unrated film of all time.

Prevenge and Timestalker filmmaker Alice Lowe has lined up two genre projects, including a horror version of the William Shakespeare classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The second project, Deadline reports, is Sprites, a dark comedy horror about a little girl joining a girl guide group. Lowe will write, direct, and play a key role in both.

Shakespeare’s classic comedy stageplay centered around the wedding of Duke Theseus of Athens and the Amazon queen Hippolyta, set in a woodland fairyland where identities get crossed and romantic entanglements get comically messy. 

Lowe aims to lean into the strangeness of it all. The filmmaker told Deadline, “I wanted to make a classic, and it struck me that Midsummer Night’s Dream, which I know so well, is always made in the same way over and over. It’s so genuinely funny. But also fey and fairies and blah blah blah. But I don’t see why it couldn’t be revisited with how terrifying and odd everything happens in it, and how the undercurrents are actually so dark and strange.”

Comedy will also play a driving role in Lowe’s original project, Sprites.

“The film in some ways is autobiographical. It’s set in the early 80s, which is a period that fascinates me. It’s a time when things were rapidly changing and I think the onset of the individualism that is today the mainstay of our psyches and society at large. It was also a confusing time, for me, because I was an actual child! But I also see it as a transition between the trust in the monarchy, authority, in the church, in religion, in the community and into something more formless and self-centred. Sort of liminal. You only have to look at Jimmy Savile and how he slipped through the cracks to see how there was a perception or culture shift,” Lowe said.

Both are part of a two-picture deal with UK production company Western Edge Pictures. Stay tuned.

While Robert Eggers plans his own dark take on A Christmas Carol starring Willem Dafoe, Deadline reports that Ti West (X, Pearl, MaXXXine) is taking his own crack at the classic tale.

Johnny Depp will reportedly play Ebenezer Scrooge in Ti West’s Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, with Andrea Riseborough (Possessor) also attached to star in the film.

Paramount will release the film in theaters on November 13, 2026.

Deadline details in their report this afternoon, “This version, a thrilling ghost story set in Dickens’ London, follows one man’s supernatural journey to face his past, present and future and fight for a second chance. Stephen Deuters and Jason Forman to executive produce.”

Nathaniel Halpern wrote the adaptation for Ti West to direct.

Written by Charles Dickens, the classic tale of A Christmas Carol has been adapted for the screen countless times over the years, with notable film adaptations including Scrooge (1951) starring Alastair Sim, Scrooge (1970) starring Albert Finney, A Christmas Carol (1984) starring George C. Scott, Scrooged (1988) starring Bill Murray, The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) starring Michael Caine, and A Christmas Carol (2009) starring Jim Carrey.

A Christmas Carol is classically a period piece ghost story. As Luiz H.C. wrote here on Bloody Disgusting, “Isn’t it weird how the single most influential piece of Christmas-related media is technically a horror story? One can even make the argument that Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol paved the way for the rise of Victorian Spiritualism during the following decade.”
