One day after learning that the upcoming Red Sonja movie has been rated “R” for “Strong/bloody violence,” Deadline has shared a new image along with additional information.

For starters, Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired Red Sonja, a new feature film adaptation of the comic books. A theatrical release is being planned here in the U.S. later this year.

M.J. Bassett (Ash vs. Evil Dead) directed the upcoming movie, with Matilda Lutz (Revenge) starring as the title character. Check out a badass new shot of Lutz’s Red Sonja above.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing Red Sonja to audiences across the nation. The fanbase for the legendary character is big and passionate and we’re confident that this film will deliver for them,” said Samuel Goldwyn Films president Peter Goldwyn.

In the film, “Captured. Chained. Forced to fight for survival. Red Sonja must battle her way through the blood-soaked pits of a tyrant’s empire and rally an army of outcasts to reclaim her freedom and take down Dragan and his ruthless bride, Dark Annisia.”

Robert Sheehan (The Umbrella Academy), Wallis Day (Sheroes), Michael Bisping (Den of Thieves), Luca Pasqualino (Snowpiercer), Rhona Mitra (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans), Martyn Ford (Final Score), Ben Radcliffe (Cuban Fury), Eliza Matengu (Predestination), Veronica Ferres (Crisis), Phillip Winchester (Strike Back) and Trevor Eve (Waking the Dead) star alongside Matilda Lutz.

The Red Sonja movie was written by Joey Soloway and Tasha Huo.

Blumhouse’s hotly anticipated horror sequel Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is headed our way this coming December, and Jason Blum has offered up a cryptic tease tonight.

Blum shared a video to Twitter that promises a Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 update in one week, which would be Wednesday, April 2. The suggestion here is that the first teaser trailer is headed our way next week, but you can check out Blum’s tease below and decide for yourself.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is scheduled to release in theaters December 5, 2025.

What little we know about the upcoming sequel so far is that Matthew Lillard will be back. He told Forbes this past Halloween season, “I will say that I think the filmmakers have done a great job of learning from the first movie of what fans want, and I think they’re giving a lot more of that. It’s going to be more exciting, and I think it’s going to have more action.”

Lillard played Five Nights at Freddy’s antagonist William Afton in the first movie, who received a rather grim comeuppance at the story’s close. But Five Nights at Freddy’s fans will know that death doesn’t mean much when it comes to the franchise’s dense lore.

Also back handling the animatronics is Jim Henson’s Creature Shop!

Released in theaters and available for streaming on Peacock on the same day, the Emma Tammi-directed Five Nights at Freddy’s was Blumhouse’s highest grossing movie of all time.

Marcel Jortzik, Amy Tara, Toby Wynn-Davies (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), Georgie Rogers, James Grimm, and scream queen Debbie Rochon (Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV) star.

Rebecca Wheeler (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey) handled the practical effects, and a mortician was on hand for technical advice — so the film boasts an undertaker-approved zombie.

Over a year after the film premiered at Sundance, Deadline reports this week that horror movie The Moogai has been picked up for U.S. distribution by Samuel Goldwyn Films.

“A May theatrical release is in the works,” Deadline notes.

In The Moogai…

“Sarah and Fergus, a hopeful young Aboriginal couple, give birth to their second baby. But what should be a joyous time of their lives becomes sinister when Sarah starts seeing a malevolent spirit, she is convinced is trying to take her baby. Fergus, who can’t see it but desperately wants to believe her, grows increasingly worried as she becomes more unbalanced. Is the child-stealing spirit real or is she in fact the biggest threat to the safety of their family?”

Shari Sebbens, Meyne Wyatt, Tessa Rose, Bella Heathcote and Toby Leonard Moore star in The Moogai, which marks the feature debut of Indigenous filmmaker Jon Bell.

The feature adapts Bell’s own award-winning 2021 short film of the same name.

Horror icons and hosts of Bloody Disgusting’s podcast Talk Scary to Me, Scout Taylor-Compton and Danielle Harris are joining forces for Last Chance Motel, a new horror movie.

Scout Taylor-Compton and Danielle Harris will not only star as co-leads in Last Chance Motel, but they also co-created the story and co-directed the upcoming feature film project.

Last Chance Motel is being developed under Talk Scary Productions and Hillin Entertainment, and it’s said to be a “pulse-pounding psychological thriller with slasher elements,” one that “promises to deliver a fresh, blood-soaked addition to modern horror.” It’s also set to “pay homage to classic slashers while injecting a modern psychological twist.”

The cast for the film includes Shane West (A Walk to Remember, Salem), Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Monica Keena (Freddy vs. Jason), Sierra McCormick (The Vast of Night), Zachary Roozen (Deadly Debutantes) and more.

Last Chance Motel follows a newlywed couple whose dream wedding spirals into a bloody nightmare when they uncover that their secluded venue—a desolate motel deep in the Nevada desert—is run by a relentless bloodthirsty family with dark secrets revealing that one bride’s future may not be all that it was promised to be.

“We’ve always wanted to create something that speaks to horror fans in a way that’s both nostalgic and fresh,” Taylor-Compton said in a statement. “Danielle and I have talked about this for so long—we wanted to be more than just scream queens. This film is the first step in carving out our own space in horror filmmaking.”

Harris added, “This project is deeply personal to us. It’s our love letter to horror—gritty, unrelenting, and absolutely terrifying. We want to create films that feel like the ones we grew up on, the kind that stay with you long after the credits roll. This is just the beginning of what we plan to build together.”
