NEON continues paying tribute to classic 1980s slasher movies with fun posters for their upcoming film Hell of a Summer, and Bloody Disgusting is debuting a new one today.

Following in the wake of last week’s Hell of a Summer poster inspired by Happy Birthday to Me, NEON’s latest poster for the new movie pays homage to 1980’s Prom Night!

The original Prom Night was directed by Paul Lynch, released the very same year that Friday the 13th changed the game for the slasher subgenre. Horror icon Jamie Lee Curtis starred.

Slasher comedy Hell of a Summer will release in theaters on April 4, 2025. “Stranger Things” star Finn Wolfhard is the co-writer, co-director and star of the upcoming movie.

Hell of a Summer follows 24-year-old camp counselor Jason Hochberg (Fred Hechinger), who arrives at Camp Pineway thinking his biggest problem is that he feels out of touch with his teenage co-workers. What he doesn’t know is that a masked killer is lurking on the campgrounds, brutally picking counselors off one by one.

Finn Wolfhard wrote and directed the upcoming movie alongside Billy Bryk (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), with both actors also starring in the film. The cast also includes Fred Hechinger (Fear Street 1994), as well as D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (“Reservation Dogs”), Abby Quinn (“Mad About You”), and Pardis Saremi (“Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem”).

Just how hungry are horror fans for a new installment in the Final Destination franchise, fourteen years after the previous one? Pretty damn excited, it would seem, as this week’s trailer for Final Destination Bloodlines has already shattered a massive viewership record.

It was just three months ago that the trailer for 28 Years Later became the second most watched horror trailer in history, and now Final Destination Bloodlines has taken the crown!

Deadline reports today, “the pic’s 24-hour trailer traffic is the second best for any horror movie at 178.7M worldwide views behind New Line’s own It which had near 200M global views.”

“There is a big deal nowadays in regards to measuring trailer traffic whether it includes or doesn’t include TikTok views which can make a trailer soar,” the report continues. “I’m told that these WaveMetrix measurements do include TikTok, but even if you back them out, it still exceeds the 24-hour traffic for Sony’s 28 Days Later (60.2M global views from Dec. 12).”

To date, the highest grossing installment in the five-film Final Destination franchise is 2009’s The Final Destination with $186 million worldwide, while the highest domestic opening was also the 2009 sequel with $27.4 million. That’s the installment to beat, and it sounds like Final Destination Bloodlines will be giving it a run for its money in the coming months.

The newest chapter in New Line Cinema’s hit franchise is said to “take audiences back to the very beginning.” In the upcoming sequel, “Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.”

Adam Stein & Zach Lipovsky directed the new installment, in theaters May 16.

The British indie horror-comedy will be released on VOD on April 15 from The Horror Collective.

Prepare for the rapid rise and violent fall of rock band Stack of Corpses, whose audacious attempt to jump-start their career by stealing another singer’s song leads to bloody and unexpected consequences. The musical journey is told through six chapters that unravel the band’s tumultuous life.

Mitchell Tolliday makes his feature directorial debut from a script he co-wrote with Neil Rickatson, expanding on their 2020 short film Everything Is Going to Be Fine.

Luke de Belder, Rhiann Connor, Fran Mcateer, Imogen Wilde, Alyx Nazir, Lauren Cornelius, Niccy Lin (“You”), and Simon Callow (Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Four Weddings and a Funeral) star.

“Murder Ballads is a fast paced, colourful, larger-than-life comedy that goes in some darkly farcical directions,” Tolliday said. “The main characters are all misfits who make increasingly terrible decisions but I think are also endearing in their own way. I wanted to make audiences laugh, wince, and gasp in equal measure.”

Tolliday cites Shaun of the Dead, The Nice Guys, and Green Room among the influences on the project.

Austin Abrams was previously confirmed to lead 20th Century’s feature adaptation of Daniel Kraus’ novel Whalefall. Deadline reports today that Dune actor Josh Brolin is in talks to co-star.

Brian Duffield (No One Will Save You, Spontaneous) is directing the project, described as The Martian meets 127 Hours, with Duffield and Kraus co-writing the script.

The storyline follows “a scuba diver in search of his deceased father’s remains who gets swallowed by an 80-foot, 60-ton sperm whale and has only one hour to escape before his oxygen runs out. It’s a tale about a young man who has given up on life — only to find a reason to live in the most dangerous and unlikely of places.”

While the potential casting news doesn’t disclose any details about the role that Brolin would be filling, it’s likely that he’ll play Mitt Gardiner, the father of lead protagonist Jay Gardiner. While Kraus’ intense novel takes place primarily within the belly of a whale, the survival thriller is intercut with flashbacks that examines the relationship between father and son.

What’s interesting about this casting news is that it’ll mark a reunion between Abrams and Brolin; both are starring in Zach Cregger’s upcoming horror movie Weapons. Brolin is also slated to star in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man reboot as the central antagonist behind the violent reality show.

Sorrow is terror in Tinsman Road, the new found footage nightmare from The Outwaters filmmaker Robbie Banfitch.

Check out the first stills below, along with the teaser poster and a poem that ties into the film.

Shot entirely on gritty 4:3 Mini-DV in the backwoods of New Jersey, Tinsman Road takes the audience on an emotionally winding voyage into the wilderness of death and sorrow. The story centers on a young man as he navigates the serpentine mystery surrounding his long-missing sister and their family home.

In addition to serving as writer, director, cinematographer, editor, and producer, Banfitch stars alongside his real-life mother, Leslie Ann Banfitch.

Salem Belladonna, Heather Middleton, Nancy Bujnowski, Keith Bixby, Margaret Bixby, Noelle Faccone, David Fekety, Eric Faccone, and Raven McFarland and round out the cast.

Tinsman Road will premiere tomorrow, March 28, at the Unnamed Footage Festival in San Francisco, CA, followed the Calgary Underground Film Festival in Alberta, Canada, on April 20 and a screening at The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, CA, on May 3.

Banfitch recently wrapped filming in his next feature, a silent film titled Exvallis.
