Sony’s Screen Gems has a hit on their hands with Tarot, a not-good movie that nevertheless managed to scare up $45 million at the box office on an $8 million production budget.

The horror movie is now available at home, up for Digital rental for $9.99 and Digital purchase for $14.99, and we’ve learned that the Blu-ray will release on July 9 via Sony.

As we’ve previously explained, artist Trevor Henderson designed the eight unique monsters featured in Tarot, with the Tarot card-based entities including the High Priestess, The Hermit, The Hanged Man, The Fool, The Magician, Death and The Devil.

Larsen Thompson, Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika and Jacob Batalon star in the new horror movie Tarot, which was directed by Spenser Cohen & Anna Halberg.

Meagan wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “Tarot has the makings of a breezy gateway horror movie perfect for sleepovers, though it’s undermined by surface-level characters and storytelling.” Her review continues, “Still, Tarot has just enough polish and monster fun to make for a straightforward, inoffensive, and easy foothold into the genre.”

Slasher sequel Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey II was unleashed into theaters this past March, but when will you be able to watch the movie from the comfort of home?

We’ve learned that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey II is coming home on Wednesday, June 26, with the film exclusively available on Amazon Video on Demand on that date.

And yes, a third installment in the Pooh franchise is already on the way, with Jagged Edge Productions also launching additional horror movies based on iconic pop culture characters including Bambi, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty and more. The end game, you ask? These individual movies will pave the way for Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble in 2025.

But for now, here’s what to expect from Blood and Honey II…

“Deep within the 100-Acre-Wood, a destructive rage grows as Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Owl, and Tigger find their home and their lives endangered after Christopher Robin revealed their existence. Not wanting to live in the shadows any longer, the group decides to take the fight to the town of Ashdown, home of Christopher Robin, leaving a bloody trail of death and mayhem in their wake. Winnie and his savage friends will show everyone that they are deadlier, stronger, and smarter than anyone could ever imagine and get their revenge on Christopher Robin, once and for all.”

The cast for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 includes Tallulah Evans, Alina Desmond, Scott Chambers (Doctor Jekyll) as Christopher Robin, Ryan Oliva (Seasoning House) as Winnie-the-Pooh, and Peter DeSouza-Feighoney (The Pope’s Exorcist) as Young Pooh.

Paul Le wrote in his review right here on Bloody Disgusting, “This flawed but enjoyable sequel defies expectations — albeit low ones — and outperforms its predecessor on most levels.”

“On top of a better story, Blood and Honey II benefits from higher production values,” Paul’s review continues. “The detailed creature designs and suits are more convincing than before; they don’t just look like actors in masks anymore. The extra funding also allows for elaborate set-pieces, including a rave-set mass murder and a brief but exciting chainsaw sequence.”

We recently celebrated the 22-year anniversary of Neil Marshall’s Dog Soldiers here on Bloody Disgusting, a fan favorite werewolf movie that’s still without a sequel. Over 20 years later, what are the chances of Dog Soldiers 2 ever howling its way into our lives?

Inverse asked Neil Marshall that very question in a brand new interview piece that went live this month. The bad news? It’s still no closer to happening. But Marshall isn’t giving up yet.

“I’ve a feeling it’s probably dead in the water because things have gone very quiet from the other side,” Marshall tells the site, no doubt referring to the rights issues that have long been holding up sequel talks. “I’m not giving up, though; there’s still a possibility.”

He continues, “We’ve been trying to get it off the ground for the past six years. I’ve got a story hammered out, but I’ve not written the script yet because I want to know if we’re actually making it or not first. It’s a good idea, and I know Kevin McKidd (Cooper) is on board, but everything has gone very quiet and we don’t know why. We’ll see. I can’t live my life waiting to see if it does happen. If it happens, it happens. It’s always going to be a double-edged sword, though.”

“The fans want it, and I’d love to give it to them, but if I make a mess of it, they’re not going to thank me,” Marshall elaborates on that thought. “The most important thing is making sure that it lives up to the first one. That’s the hardest part.”

He teases, “The new concept for the story is fresh and acknowledges that 20 years have passed. The story is set in a confined setting but a bigger one than the first film.”

Dog Soldiers pit soldiers up against werewolves in the Scotland wilderness, and a trilogy of films was the original plan. In fact, it had been announced back in 2004 that Dog Soldiers: Fresh Meat was in the works. Of course, that never ended up coming to fruition.

Paul Le wrote here on BD earlier this year, “The incredible highs of werewolf horror make up for the many, many lows. And after twenty-plus years, Dog Soldiers remains a benchmark.”

NEON has once again dropped a cryptic new teaser video for Longlegs, this time revealing Kiernan Shipka while also giving us a much better look at Nicolas Cage’s villain.

Longlegs heads to theaters on July 12, and it’s been earning rave reviews from seemingly everyone who’s seen it so far. That includes Bloody Disgusting’s own Meagan Navarro, who raved in her 4.5/5 star review that Longlegs “gets under your skin and festers like a nightmare.”

“Nicolas Cage is operating in rare, depraved form,” Meagan’s review continues, delivering his “most unsettling performance yet.” Watch the new teaser below for a fresh sneak peek…

The upcoming serial killer horror movie marks the return of director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel). Nicolas Cage stars alongside Maika Monroe, with Monroe playing an FBI agent and Cage playing a serial killer.

Longlegs is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers,” and early reviews have favorably compared the film to the classic ’90s thriller The Silence of the Lambs.

In the film, “FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”

Alicia Witt (“The Walking Dead”) and Blair Underwood (“American Crime Story”) also star.

The film is rated “R” for “Bloody violence, disturbing images and some language.”

One year after making $7 million in theatrical re-release, Henry Selick’s 2009 stop motion film Coraline is headed back to theaters nationwide this summer… this time in 3D.

Fathom Events will be celebrating the 15th anniversary of Coraline by bringing a brand new 3D remaster to theaters around the world from August 15 – August 22, 2024.

Variety details in a report this afternoon, “Ticket sales kick off on June 21. A 2D version of the film will also be available to exhibitors.” You can sign up for an email reminder now.

“Laika set the 3D standard with the 2009 release of Coraline,” said the studio’s Chief Marketing and Operations Officer David Burke. “This newly remastered version, in the works for three years, brings Neil Gaiman’s enchanting story to life in stunning, stereoscopic 3D detail and is a love letter to Laika fans everywhere.”

“Everybody loves Coraline, and Fathom is proud to partner once again with our friends at LAIKA to bring her back to theaters,” said Ray Nutt, Fathom CEO.  “Last year’s extended run was a testament to this film’s popularity, and now that fans will get to see it in beautifully remastered 3D, it makes this screening that much more special.”
