In the wake of the Oscar-winning Parasite, Bong Joon-ho will return with the brand new sci-fi movie Mickey 17, which has been getting bumped all over the release calendar.

Recently moved to March 29, 2024, we’ve learned tonight that Mickey 17 has once again been bumped. This time all the way out of 2024. It now hits theaters on January 31, 2025.

Robert Pattinson stars alongside Toni Collette, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo and Naomi Ackie in Mickey 17, a science fiction thriller based on a 2022 novel.

Here’s the plot synopsis for Edward Ashton’s book, via Amazon…

“The Martian meets Dark Matter in Edward Ashton’s high concept science fiction thriller, in which Mickey7, an “expendable,” refuses to let his replacement clone Mickey8 take his place.”

The writer of the original Jurassic Park, David Koepp, is headed back to the world of dinosaurs to pen the next installment of the Jurassic World franchise. While the new installment recently hit a roadblock, THR reports that the project has finally found its new director in Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla, The Creator).

The outlet reports that Edwards is in talks to helm the feature that was briefly set to be directed by Bullet Train filmmaker David Leitch.

Universal and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners have set a theatrical release date for the new Jurassic World movie: July 2, 2025.

The new movie is expected to be completely fresh take on a Jurassic era with Jurassic World cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return. Don’t expect the original trilogy’s Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, either. The new Jurassic World is expected to take the franchise in a new direction, with plot details under wraps.

Gareth Edwards is no stranger to big budget productions or large-scaled monster movies. The filmmaker broke out with 2010’s Kaiju-centric Monsters before taking on Godzilla in 2014. Edwards also is no stranger to effects-heavy sci-fi features, from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to last year’s The Creator.

The next Jurassic World film will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce and David Leitch and Kelly McCormick will also produce through 87North. Executive Vice President of Production Development Sara Scott and Creative Executive of Production Development Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the Studio.

This news comes in the wake of Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World: Dominion, a trilogy of sequels to the original classic that concluded in 2022. The last entry, Jurassic World: Dominion, brought in a billion dollars at the global box-office, all but ensuring Universal would want to continue this franchise.

The franchise will also return with “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” later this year, an animated series from Netflix set in the world of “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.”

New horror movies are headed to Shudder next month, including horror anthology Satanic Hispanics and tense Australian horror movie You’ll Never Find Me. And that doesn’t even touch on the repertory additions, including rare ’90s gem Ghostwatch.

Look for Satanic Hispanics to arrive on Shudder on March 8. The horror movie assembles five tales of terror from Mike Mendez (Big Ass Spider), Alejandro Brugués (Juan of the Dead), Gigi Saul Guerrero (Culture Shock), Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project), and Demian Rugna (When Evil Lurks, Terrified) unite in the first all-Latino horror anthology.

An isolated man living at the back of a desolate caravan park is visited by a desperate young woman seeking shelter from a violent storm in You’ll Never Find Me. As the savage storm worsens, these solitary souls begin to feel threatened – but who should really be afraid? Find out on March 22.

Shudder Original Special The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs: The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will air live on Shudder on March 1, then look for it on streaming on March 3. In the special, Joe Bob dives deep into the epic love story of two people changed by a changed world in “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.”

A pop culture icon returns to the big screen in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a sequel to the ’80s classic that brings Michael Keaton back as the title character.

While we wait for an official first look at the upcoming movie, Keaton chats with People this week and promises that the film will feel wonderfully retro in its “handmade” approach.

Keaton explains, “The one thing that [Tim Burton] and I decided on early, early, early on from the beginning, if we ever did it again, I was totally not interested in doing something where there was too much technology. It had to feel handmade.”

Keaton continues, “What made it fun was watching somebody in the corner actually holding something up for you, to watch everybody in the shrunken head room and say, ‘Those are people under there, operating these things, trying to get it right.’”

“It’s the most exciting thing,” Keaton adds. “When you get to do that again after years of standing in front of a giant screen, pretending somebody’s across the way from you, this is just enormous fun.” He notes, “It’s the most fun I’ve had on set in a long time.”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice haunts theaters on September 6, 2024, and the cast features Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci.

No word yet on plot details, but it’s known that Jenna Ortega will be playing the daughter of Lydia Deetz, the character Winona Ryder is of course returning to play.

Justin Theroux recently joined the cast of the sequel as well, with frequent Burton collaborator Danny Elfman coming back to compose the film’s score.

Orlando Bloom, Garret Dillahunt, and Andie MacDowell lead the cast of action-thriller Red Right Hand, which Magnolia Pictures will release in theaters & VOD February 23.

In the film, directed by Eshom Nelms and Ian Nelms, “Cash (Orlando Bloom) is trying to live an honest and quiet life taking care of his recently orphaned niece Savannah (Chapel Oaks) in the Appalachian town of Odim County. When the sadistic kingpin Big Cat (MacDowell) who runs the town forces him back into her services, Cash learns he’s capable of anything – even killing – to protect the town and the only family he has left. As the journey gets harder, Cash is drawn into a nightmare that blurs the lines between good and evil.”

Magnolia teases, “Red Right Hand has the kinds of characters who leave an unforgettable imprint on you.” Speaking of which, meet MacDowell’s ruthless Big Cat in the clip below.
