Gravitas Ventures’ Easter Bloody Easter isn’t the only Easter-themed horror movie headed our way this year, as Shogun Films is getting set to unleash their own slasher: Peter Rabid.

The team tells BD, “Peter Rabid delivers exactly what slasher fans want…blood and buckets of it! If you like inventive kills and practical effects, then you’ll love Peter Rabid!”

In the upcoming slasher, “A group of former schoolfriends reunite in a secluded mansion after the death of one of their former classmates. However, their mourning is cut short as masked maniacs – controlled by a deranged cult – arrive with one intention, to slaughter them all.

“Will any of the former school pals survive? Will anything remain of them after Peter Rabid and his insane sister Bedelia are finished?”

Directed by S.J. Evans (Dead of Nite) and written by Adam Stephen Kelly (Nemesis), Peter Rabid stars Guy Henry (Rogue One), Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott (Renegades), and Johnny Palmiero (Green Street Hooligans) alongside Harrison Watson, Kirsty Howe, Madeleine Sidi, Joseph Emms, Harry Walters, Elise Oliviea, Charles Smith and Charlie Bentley.

The titular role is played by Nick Onsloe. Executive Producers for Peter Rabid include Jamie McLeod-Ross and Charley McDougall for Empire Studios, and Thomas Pitts.

Tom Hardy will be back as Venom in Sony’s upcoming Venom 3 later this year, and Variety reports today that Clark Backo (“Letterkenny”) is the latest actor to sign on.

No word yet on Backo’s role in the hotly anticipated sequel. Stay tuned.

Originally scheduled for July 12, Venom 3 will now release in theaters on November 8, 2024.

Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) and Juno Temple (“Ted Lasso”) will star.

Venom and Venom 2 writer Kelly Marcel will be directing the third movie.

In addition to writing, Kelly Marcel also produced the first two Venom movies. She’s on board to produce Venom 3 as well, and Marcel also wrote the screenplay for the new film.

Deadline reports, “Plot details are unknown other than Hardy returning as the lethal protector Venom following the first two films grossing a combined $1.36 billion worldwide at the box-office. It is also unknown who will be joining Hardy from previous films or if any characters from the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters will be joining the film.”

Ruben Fleischer directed Venom, with Andy Serkis directing Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The 2021 sequel saw Tom Hardy’s Venom do battle with Woody Harrelson’s Carnage. The sequel also made it clear that these Venom movies are taking place within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, so we expect to see some more connections in the upcoming third movie.

Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker are also producing Venom 3.

We learned just yesterday that Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things) is on board to direct an English-language remake of 2003’s Korean genre-bender Save the Green Planet!, which has Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) attached to produce. Variety now reports this afternoon that Emma Stone (Poor Things) is in talks to reunite with Lanthimos on the film.

“Stone would most likely play a supporting role,” Variety notes in their report.

Emma Stone just secured an Oscar nomination for her performance in Lanthimos’ Poor Things, and they had previously worked together on The Favourite back in 2018.

Variety details, “Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe at Element Pictures will produce the movie alongside Ari Aster’s Square Peg and CJ ENM (previously named CJ Entertainment).”

Joon-hwan Jang wrote and directed the original movie.

In the film, “Byeong-gu believes Earth is on the verge of an alien invasion and that he’s the only one who can save it. With his loyal girlfriend’s help, he kidnaps and brutally tortures corporate execs and politicians he believes to be aliens in disguise.”

A complete genre mashup, from sci-fi to comedy to horror with paranoia and extreme violence, Save the Green Planet is full of shocking moments and unexpected twists.

Ari Aster and Square Peg partner Lars Knudsen said in a 2020 statement, “Swinging with youthful abandon between white-knuckle suspense, absurd slapstick, grim horror and a deeply felt (and earned) sense of tragedy, Save The Green Planet! is one of the most remarkable films to come out of South Korea – among this recent wave or any wave, for that matter.”

Watch the new clip below, which sees a normal bedtime routine end with the creepy realization that someone, or something, is lurking nearby. And it wants out.

History of Evil is set “In the near future, war and corruption have plagued America and turned it into a theocratic police state. Against the oppression, ordinary citizens have formed a group called The Resistance. One such member, Alegre Dyer, breaks out of political prison and reunites with her husband Ron and daughter Daria. On the run from the militia, the family takes shelter in a remote safe house. But their journey is far from over, as the house’s dark past begins to eat away at Ron, and his earnest desire to keep his family safe is overtaken by something much more sinister.”

The horror film stars Paul Wesley, Jackie Cruz, Murphee Bloom, and Rhonda Johnsson Dents.

Written and directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Bo Mirhosseni, drawing from his parents’ personal experiences with the Iranian revolution, the film is being produced by genre specialists XYZ Films, Under the Shadow outfit Two & Two Pictures and Jake Siegel. Two & Two is run by Lucan Toh and Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow, Wounds).
