George A. Romero’s 1968 zombie masterpiece Night of the Living Dead gets yet another remake this year, and ITN Distribution has unleashed the official trailer this week.

Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill) stars in this version of Night of the Living Dead, which was directed by Christopher Ray and announced several years ago. Watch the official trailer below.

Night of the Living Dead (2026) takes place during a worldwide event in which the dead rise and roam the earth as zombies. As civilisation collapses, a small group of survivors must fight to stay alive against the growing threat of the walking dead.

Brittany Underwood, Robert Carradine, Miko Hughes, Zack Ward, Rob Van Dam and Adam Huss star alongside Vivica A. Fox in Christopher Ray’s Night of the Living Dead.

George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead changed the landscape of the horror genre back in 1968, with various remakes released over the years. The most notable was directed by Tom Savini in 1990, while Tubi’s recent original film Festival of the Living Dead took place in the same universe as Romero’s original. That film was directed by sisters Jen and Sylvia Soska.

StudioCanal is teaming with The Picture Company to develop a reimagining of John Carpenter’s Escape From New York, announced via THR from CinemaCon today.

The remake news comes a few years after Radio Silence parted ways with 20th Century Studios over a planned “requel.”  Saw originator Leigh Whannell had even been attached as writer for the reboot.

Escape from New York was released in 1981 and set in 1997. In the film, “When the U.S. president crashes into Manhattan, now a giant maximum security prison, a convicted bank robber is sent in to rescue him.”

Kurt Russell starred as prisoner Snake Plissken.

In 1996’s Escape from LA, also directed by John Carpenter, “Snake Plissken is once again called in by the United States government to recover a potential doomsday device from Los Angeles, now an autonomous island where undesirables are deported.”

Carpenter himself had even stated in 2019 that he felt Snake Plissken had another story or two left to tell, but no word at this time on how involved the horror master will be in StudioCanal’s update. Or whether Russell will reprise the role.

Last month, Joe Dante’s The Howling celebrated its 45th anniversary. Today at CinemaCon, StudioCanal announced that they’re developing a remake of the werewolf classic.

Adapted from the novel by Gary Brandner, the 1981 horror movie followed a television news anchor sent to a resort to recover from a terrifying encounter with a serial killer, only to discover it is inhabited by werewolves.

Dee Wallace starred as the tormented reporter, Karen White. Christopher Stone,  Patrick MacNee, Dennis Dugan, Elisabeth Brooks, and Robert Picardo also starred.

More importantly, The Howling is known for its incredible practical effects and werewolf transformation sequence, courtesy of SFX legend Rob Bottin, who was only 21 at the time. 

The Howling went on to gross $18 million in its initial theatrical release. Between 1985 and 2011, seven more Howling films were produced in the franchise, including Howling II in 1985, Howling III in 1987, Howling IV in 1988, Howling V in 1989, Howling VI in 1991, Howling: New Moon Rising in 1995, and The Howling: Reborn in 2011.

This isn’t the first time a remake has been announced for this werewolf classic, with Andy Muschietti revealing in 2019 that it’s a title he’d love to tackle.

Barbarian and Weapons filmmaker Zach Cregger is reteaming with producer Roy Lee once again, this time to produce the new dark comedy Little One, Deadline reports today.

Little One will mark the feature debut of Cregger’s friend Alex Kavutskiy, who also wrote the screenplay.

As for plot, the dark comedy follows ” a sudden change in a child’s behavior that threatens to tear a picture-perfect family apart.” 

While that description could apply to Weapons, too, don’t expect Little Ones to get quite that dark. Kavutskiy writes on comedic series Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat and previously directed Sundance short Squirrel and the Adult Swim special Cool Dad.

Chris McEwen (Love, Simon) will also produce Little One, along with Amanda Phillips and Melina Torres of Soto Productions (Winner, The Assistant). 

Casting is underway.

In the meantime, expect to hear a lot more from Cregger very soon; Sony’s CinemaCon presentation tonight is slated to include Cregger’s upcoming Resident Evil movie, another collaboration between the director and producer Roy Lee.

Lee previously said of Cregger’s Resident Evil, “It’s like a roller coaster ride of nonstop action, of just showing a point of view of a character and an original story in the world of Raccoon City, where it’s like the experience of watching the movie is similar to the experience you would get playing the game, is what Zach is trying to do,” the producer explains.”

Directed by Cregger from a script he co-wrote with Shay Hatten (John Wick: Chapters 3 and 4), Resident Evil opens in theaters on  September 18 via Sony.
