This week already saw the release of nine new horror movies on Tuesday, March 24, and another SIX of them have now been released in theaters and at home to kick off the weekend.

Here’s all the new horror that released on Friday, March 27, 2026!

A New York City high-rise serves as a temple to Satan, and new maid Zazie Beetz is its latest human sacrifice in They Will Kill You. The film is now playing in theaters nationwide.

Zazie Beetz stars as a young woman who must survive the night at the Virgil, a demonic cult’s mysterious and twisted death-trap of a lair, before becoming their next offering.

Myha’La, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton, Heather Graham, and Patricia Arquette round out the cast of They Will Kill You. Get your tickets now and watch the trailer below.

Kirill Sokolov (Why Don’t You Just Die!) directs from a script he co-wrote with Alex Litvak (Predators). IT filmmaker Andy Muschietti produces alongside Barbara Muschietti.

Produced by Diablo Cody, director Meredith Alloway’s Forbidden Fruits brings a new coven of witches to the big screen. The film is now playing exclusively in theaters.

Lola Tung (“The Summer I Turned Pretty”), Victoria Pedretti (“The Haunting of Hill House”), Alexandra Shipp (Tragedy Girls), Gabrielle Union (Breaking In), and Emma Chamberlain star in Forbidden Fruits, being released by IFC and Shudder.

“Forbidden Fruits grabbed me by the neck the very first time I read it,” Diablo Cody said. “It’s one of the craziest, most creative, beautifully bonkers projects I’ve ever worked on.”

Meagan Navarro writes in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “Forbidden Fruits may not necessarily forge new terrain in the teen satire space, but Alloway brings so much style and energy to her well-cast single-location stage play adaptation for the Gen Z crowd.”

Based on the hit horror video game, The Mortuary Assistant was released in select theaters last month. The film is now streaming exclusively on Shudder beginning today.

The Mortuary Assistant follows newly certified mortician Rebecca Owens, who accepts a night shift at a mortuary, embalming bodies alone after hours. As disturbing events escalate, Rebecca uncovers demonic rituals, the dark secrets of her enigmatic mentor, and her own buried trauma — racing to survive the night before her body becomes a vessel for possession.

Willa Holland (“Arrow”) and Paul Sparks (“Boardwalk Empire”) star, with Mark Steger (“Stranger Things”) as The Mimic. The Mortuary Assistant creator Brian Clarke co-wrote the script with Tracee Beebe. Jeremiah Kipp (Slapface) directs.

Originally released on PC in 2022, The Mortuary Assistant quickly became a viral sensation and made its way to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. The film will expand on the game’s world, delving deeper into the lore of the demonic entities plaguing River Fields.

Proving herself to be a singular voice with Raw and Titane, French writer-director Julia Ducournau is back with new movie Alpha, now playing in theaters from NEON.

Ducournau’s third movie follows Alpha, a troubled 13-year-old who lives with her single mom. Their world collapses the day she returns from school with a tattoo on her arm.

Tahar Rahim (Madame Web), Golshifteh Farahani (Extraction), Mélissa Boros, Emma Mackey (Death on the Nile), Finnegan Oldfield (Infested), and Louai El Amrousy star.

How well do you really know your father? The person who’s a loving dad to you could be something far more dangerous to everyone else. That’s the case in Tubi Original Rockabye.

The psychological thriller is now streaming only on Tubi.

Annie Ngosi Ilonzeh (“Chicago Fire”) stars as a grieving woman who suspects her father didn’t take his own life. Her hunt for the truth turns treacherous when his friends start dying.

Chris Stokes (You Got Served) directs Rockabye from a script he co-wrote with frequent collaborators Marques Houston (Til Death Do Us Part) and Chaz Echols.

Donald Brumfield Jr., Claudia Jordan (Sharknado 5), Wesley Jonathan (“What I Like About You”), Garret Davis, Cisco Reyes, and Lisa Ann Loggins round out the cast.

“Baby Reindeer” meets Misery in UK horror movie Barren, now available at home.

In the film, “After pregnant Emily crashes outside a mill, desperate Julia believes the baby is a gift from God-and will do whatever it takes to make it hers, no matter the cost.”

Rebecca-Clare Evans and Michaela Longden star.

A sequel to Lights Out was announced a week after the hit original horror film’s release in 2016, but it’s been a full ten years now since we’ve heard a peep about that project.

The Hollywood Reporter breaks the silence this afternoon, reporting that Lights Out 2 has come back to life at New Line. Connor Osborne McIntyre (Animals) will write the script.

Lights Out 2 will be produced by Lawrence Grey, Eric Heisserer, and David F. Sandberg. James Wan’s Atomic Monster is also on board to produce the horror sequel.

Lights Out marked David F. Sandberg’s feature directorial debut, based on his viral short film of the same name. Eric Heisserer (Arrival, Bird Box) penned the script.

In 2016’s Lights Out starring Teresa Palmer, Maria Bello, and Gabriel Bateman, “A supernatural entity reemerges to terrorize a family when the lights go out at night.”

Sandberg had noted last October, “We did have a version of a sequel which it wouldn’t be if we do it now. Well, some of it might be. But that one took place shortly after [the original], but now Martin’s not a kid anymore, so it would have to take place, like, 10 years later.”

He was referring to Gabriel Bateman’s character in that interview, which just goes to show how long New Line took to finally turn the lights back on and bring Lights Out 2 to life.

The original film was made for just $5 million and grossed $149 million in theaters.

John Hannah will return as Jonathan Carnahan in the as-yet-untitled fourth installment in The Mummy franchise, THR has learned.

He’ll reunite with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, who are reprising their iconic roles as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell.

Due out on May 19, 2028 from Universal, the action-adventure horror-comedy is aiming to enter production in August in London and Morocco.

Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not, Scream 5-6) are directing from a script by David Coggeshall (Orphan: First Kill).

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the sequel is expected to disregard the events of the third movie, in which Weisz did not appear.

“It’s just really, really beautiful and scary and sweeping, and it’s awesome,” Gillet previously said of the screenplay. Bettinelli-Olpin added that it “had all of the heart and the character that you could hope for.”

Sean Daniel, who produced the original movies with his late partner James Jacks, is back as producer. William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein will produce through Project X Entertainment.

Fraser, Hivemind’s Jason F. Brown, and Denis Stewart will executive produce. Executive VP of production development Jay Polidoro and director of production development Jacqueline Garell are overseeing the project for Universal.

A remake of the classic Universal monster movie, The Mummy was released in 1999 and grossed $422.5 million worldwide. It was followed by The Mummy Returns in 2001 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008.

It’s safe to say that every single character is on the receiving end of immense pain in the stunt-heavy They Will Kill You.

That’s certainly the case for stars Heather Graham (Suitable Flesh) and Myha’la (Bodies Bodies Bodies), who both get into the Satanic fray in the action horror comedy.

The pair revealed their tricks for taking a punch and making it plausible in a recent chat with Bloody Disgusting, and Myha’la extends endless praise to lead Zazie Beetz, who spent months training to get combat ready for the film.

IT filmmaker Andy Muschietti produces alongside Barbara Muschietti and Dan Kagan. Executive producers include Sokolov, Litvak, Russell Ackerman, John Schoenfelder, and Carl Hampe.
