From visionary director Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner), The Dog Stars will soar into theaters on August 28, 2026 via 20th Century Studios.

Based on the 2012 novel by Peter Heller, the post-apocalyptic thriller is written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Twisters).

Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Josh Brolin (Weapons), Guy Pearce (Prometheus), Margaret Qualley (The Substance), and Benedict Wong (Weapons) star.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, a virus wipes out humanity and survivors face roaming scavengers called Reapers. The story centers on Hig (Elordi), a civilian pilot who lost his wife to the disease.

Hig lives a lonely life on an abandoned Colorado airbase with his dog and a tough ex-marine (Brolin). The two men couldn’t be more mismatched but depend on each other to fend off Reapers.

When a random transmission beams through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice ignites a hope deep inside the pilot that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter. Risking everything, Hig flies past his point of no return and follows its static-broken trail.

Scott is producing alongside Scott Free president Michael Pruss, as well as Smith and Cliff Roberts (The Midnight Sky).

In addition to The Dog Stars, Jaume Collet-Serra’s Cliffhanger remake and the long-delayed Coyote vs. Acme are also scheduled to open on August 28.

School’s out for a zombie apocalypse on the new poster for the new YA horror movie This is Not a Test, and it comes with an official release date.

Independent Film Company and Shudder will release the film theatrically on February 20, 2026.

Writer/Director Adam MacDonald (Out Come the Wolves, Pyewacket) adapts the 2012 young adult novel of the same name by Courtney Summers, which is getting a re-release on January 13 via Bindery Books. You can read an excerpt here.

In This is Not a Test, “Sloane and a small group of her classmates take cover in their high school to escape their suddenly apocalyptic hometown. As danger relentlessly pounds on the doors, Sloane begins to see the world through the eyes of people who actually want to live and takes matters into her own hands.”

Olivia Holt (Heart Eyes), Froy Gutierrez (The Strangers), Luke MacFarlane (“Bros”), Corteon Moore (“From”), Chloe Avakian (“Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy”), and Carson MacCormac (Clown in a Cornfield) star.

The YA horror movie made its debut out of the Brooklyn Horror Fest earlier this year, where our own Daniel Kurland praised Olivia Holt’s lead performance. The wait for one of the 2026’s most anticipated genre movies just got a little shorter.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come will now hit theaters on March 27 — two weeks earlier than the original April 10 release date.

The pre-Easter timing demonstrates Searchlight’s confidence in the film, but it’s slated to go up against Warner Bros.’s They Will Kill You. Given the buzz behind Ready or Not 2, WB is likely to adjust their schedule in the coming weeks.

Ready or Not star Samara Weaving, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, and writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy are all back for the sequel.

Picking up moments after the all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith at her side.
