The Japanese monster movie is written and directed by Doug Roos (The Sky Has Fallen), who’s also handling the all-practical special effects.

Beneath the glossy exterior of Japanese society, they pull the strings of everything. Rich powerful men who can transform into monsters at will and brainwash others with their insidious signal. In this not-too-distant future, more and more women are stalked and murdered until Tokyo’s streets reek of death.

Karen Yoshida, Tsukasa, Atsuto Fujita, Ai Tatsuzawa, Takuto Nakamura, and Motomasa Okui star.

Meatball Machine filmmaker Jun’ichi Yamamoto serves as executive producer.

“This film is a personal passion project for me about a huge social problem in Japan now: stalking, which has been increasing for the last 10 years,” Roos tells Bloody Disgusting. “Very recently, a girl called the police nine times due to a stalker before being murdered, but there have been many cases like that. I wanted to make a very shocking, crazy movie to draw attention to this.”

Subjugation will be making its way to film festivals soon.

“I always describe it as a Nancy Meyers movie that’s gone horribly wrong,” says Feig, referring to the filmmaker known for movies like The Holiday and What Women Want. “The fun comes from how extreme it gets.”

Sydney Sweeney (Immaculate) and Amanda Seyfried (Jennifer’s Body) star in the salacious thriller, in theaters December 19 via Lionsgate.

In the film, Millie, trying to escape her past, accepts a position as a live-in housemaid for a wealthy couple. But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous — a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power.

Based on Freida McFadden‘s 2022 bestselling novel of the same name, the script is written by Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys,” “The Vampire Diaries”).

Brandon Sklenar (Drop), Michele Morrone (Another Simple Favor), and Elizabeth Perkins (“Weeds”) round out the cast.

Feig produces with Todd Lieberman (The Fighter, Warm Bodies) and Laura Fischer.

“You’re gonna have a deliciously fun, insane time,” Feig promises.

J.R. Ramirez (“Jessica Jones,” “Power”) and child actor Emilio Del Real are set to lead the fantasy-horror movie The Mouth of the Furnace, Deadline reports.

Written and directed by Felipe Vargas (Rosario), the reimagining of one of Colombia’s most popular folktales is currently in production in the Dominican Republic.

It centers on a lonely prospector’s son who discovers a shadowy creature that offers a tempting — but deadly — way out of his impoverished town.

Autonomous FX (“Westworld,” Weapons) will bring to life the monster at the heart of the story.

Selene Films founder Sterlyn Ramírez, Spark Features co-founder Robina Riccitiello (The Last Showgirl), and Yvette Yates Redick & Shaun Redick of Impossible Dream Entertainment (Get Out, BlacKkKlansman) are producing.

“This project is a personal journey with Latino historical roots, and I’m thrilled to see this vision come to life with such a talented team led by a Colombian director: Felipe Vargas,” said Ramírez. “We are building an environment and story that is terrifying yet emotionally resonant — and which will spark the interest of a wide audience while honoring the rich heritage of Latin American folklore.”

“What Felipe has created is hauntingly beautiful — a frightening story steeped in Latin American mythology yet universal in its emotional power,” added the Redicks. “The Mouth of the Furnace delivers the kind of visceral, emotional genre experience audiences crave.”

Vargas other upcoming projects include the young adult social thriller Hive and the survival thriller Propel. He was also recently tapped to write a big-screen adaptation of Bob the Builder.

Luca Guadagnino (Bones and All, Suspiria) has been on board to direct a new interpretation of the 1991 book American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis for a while now, with Austin Butler at one point rumored to be playing Patrick Bateman in Guadagnino’s tale. More recently, a rumor hit the net that the film would be gender-swapped, with Margot Robbie as Bateman.

But Austin Butler definitely hasn’t signed on the dotted line and a new report from Deadline this week assures that the Margot Robbie rumors are at this point completely unfounded.

Deadline reports this afternoon, “We’re told by sources close to the project that Luca Guadagnino‘s American Psycho reinterpretation won’t be gender-swapped.”

The outlet also notes, “Austin Butler and Jacob Elordi have both been rumored online in that time, but nothing has been set so far and casting discussions continue.”

Scott Z. Burns is writing the screenplay for the Lionsgate movie from Guadagnino, which is said to be a new adaptation of Ellis’s novel and not a remake of the 2000 film.

In the story, “A wealthy New York City investment banking executive, Patrick Bateman (played by Christian Bale in the 2000 movie), hides his alternate psychopathic ego from his co-workers and friends as he delves deeper into his violent, hedonistic fantasies.”

It’s interesting to note that the 2002 direct-to-video movie American Psycho 2 actually did feature a female killer, with Mila Kunis playing a criminology student named Rachael Newman.

Thomas Middleditch (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The Final Girl) and Jess Weixler (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Teeth) are set to star in “haunted fairytale” movie Claws, Deadline reports today.

The family-friendly feature follows “a loving couple who make a deadly mistake when they invite their closest friends and family to a birthday celebration — honoring the strange, feral girl they discovered in their basement.”

The cast also includes Presley Alexander (The Accountant 2), Sydney Cole Alexander (Severance), Kirk Fox (Parks and Recreation), Saagar Shaikh (Deli Boys), Laura Cayouette (Django Unchained), Ned Bellamy (Seinfeld), Anthony Joo (The Naughty Nine), Teagan Meredith, Cruz, and Logan Taylor.

Claws is written and directed by the Adams Brothers (Jesse and Gabriel). The creative team also includes cinematographer Adam Muro, the SPFX team behind the Terrifier Trilogy, and producer Alex Knapp. 

The horror fairytale about a feral girl is currently in production in New York.
