The Queen of Black Magic and Dancing Village: The Curse Begins director Kimo Stamboel is back this Halloween season with Netflix’s The Elixir, an Indonesian zombie movie that’s unveiled new images ahead of its release.
The Elixir releases on Netflix on October 23, 2025.
In the film, “An elixir unleashes the undead in a village. A family at odds with one another must unite and fight to survive as their hometown collapses.”
The Elixir stars Donny Damara, Mikha Tambayong, Eva Celia, Dimas Anggara, Kiki Narendra, and Marthino Lio. Stamboel directs from a script co-written with Agasyah Karim and Khalid Kashog.
It’s a zombie outbreak triggered by a traditional Javanese herbal elixir, causing trouble for a fractured family in the new images below.
“Horror is a proven audience favourite in Thailand and Indonesia. But when it comes to zombie horror, demand has been met by Korean, English, and foreign-language titles,” Malobika Banerji, senior director of content for Southeast Asia at Netflix, said recently of The Elixir and Thai zombie film Ziam. “With these two films, we wanted to take the thrill of zombies and fuse it with local storytelling, culture, and authenticity.”
Look for this zombie feature to quietly arrive on Netflix next month. Stay tuned for more as it arrives.
