Three weeks after releasing the faux trailer Don’t Go in That House, Bitch!, Eli Roth has announced that his Horror Section Studios will produce a feature version of the fake trailer.

The trailer for Don’t Go in That House, Bitch! took a page out of the playbook of Edgar Wright’s Grindhouse trailer Don’t, with Roth enlisting the help of Snoop Dogg for voiceover narration.  The trailer showed different characters repeatedly going into the house that Snoop is warning them not to go inside, where increasingly deranged horrors are unleashed upon them.

Variety reports that both Roth and Snoop Dogg will produce the real feature version.

The outlet notes, “Media Capital Technologies and the Horror Section are on board to fully finance and produce. Snoop will also write and produce music for the film’s soundtrack.”

Roth previews, “There are some ideas that are so ridiculous they don’t let you sleep. I have always wanted to make the ultimate haunted house movie, but something unlike any we’ve seen – something full on insane and over the top. When I shared the idea with Snoop, he got it immediately and it was a no-brainer to make this film together.”

“Snoop loves horror movies, and I want this to be the ultimate collab, bringing out the craziest from both of us,” Roth’s statement continues. “Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.”

Fede Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues have completed a script for the sequel to last year’s Alien: Romulus, but Álvarez won’t be in the director’s chair this time around.

“We just finished the script, actually, for a sequel for Romulus, but I’m gonna pass the torch on this one as director,” the filmmaker told TooFab last night on the red carpet at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood.

Álvarez will produce the new installment alongside original Alien director Ridley Scott. They’re currently seeking a new filmmaker to direct.

“I think that’s usually what has happened, except for Ridley, filmmakers come, you make one and you pass the baton to the next one,” Álvarez said. “But we wrote the story because we really love what we started with Romulus and we want to continue the story. We love the story, and now we just want to find a director that really wants to go for the jugular.”

Álvarez plans to helm an original film he wrote with Sayagues. “I want to work on a personal project that me and my co-writer, we’ve been keeping on the back burner for a while and we feel it’s the right time to go and work on an original.” He adds, “But I can’t tell you anything about it.”

Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, who starred in Alien: Romulus as brave colonist Rain Carradine and her synthetic brother Andy, respectively, are expected to reprise their roles in the sequel.

“I think it’ll be so exciting to go with characters you know from this movie, to a place in the Alien franchise that we’ve never been before, and to discover things that you’ve never seen before,” Alvarez previously teased.

Columbia Pictures has emerged victorious in a multi-studio bidding war for the rights to The Earthling, a short story by Jonathan Marty. Deadline reports that Columbia paid mid six-figures.

Final Destination Bloodlines helmers Zach Lipovsky & Adam Stein are attached to direct and executive produce the film.

Chronology’s Eric Heisserer (Arrival, Bird Box) and Carmen Lewis (“Shadow and Bone”) will produce alongside 1201 Films’ Scott Glassgold (Prospect, Tarot).

Although plot details are being kept under wraps, it’s said to be a survival sci-fi story with shades of The Martian and Edge of Tomorrow.

Marty has made a name for himself in the television space, having sold a handful of shows including “Splash Damage” to Warner Bros. and “AI” to the CW.

Written by Samantha Allen, horror-comedy novel Patricia Wants to Cuddle is headed to the screen with a movie adaptation from Sophia Takal (Black Christmas), Variety reports.

The outlet notes, “The book, a satire of American media culture that blends slasher and queer romance genres, is the debut work of fiction from Samantha Allen.”

Patricia Wants to Cuddle follows the final four contestants on a reality TV dating show called “The Catch” as they arrive on a remote island in the Pacific Northwest, prepared for another week of sleep deprivation, invasive interviews, and salacious drama.

Each has her own reason for joining the show, from brand sponsorships to trying to amass followers to even finding love. However, no one is prepared for Patricia, a misunderstood local living alone in the island’s dense woods. When the cast and crew finally encounter her on the island’s highest peak, they realize that survival, not romance, may be the biggest prize.

“We were immediately captivated by Patricia Wants to Cuddle’s darkly funny, inventive take on horror and sharp commentary on society and media culture,” said Brent Stiefel and Justin Lothrop from production company Votiv. “We’re especially eager to amplify Sophia’s vision and bring Patricia’s world to life in a way that’s both socially resonant and bold.”
