After Svengoolie hosts 1957’s The Curse of Frankenstein on MeTV at 8pm EST tonight (August 23), his lovable Sven Squad team will follow-up the show with a special presentation of the original Leprechaun on spinoff series House of Svengoolie at 10:30pm EST!

MeTV previews, “Ignatius Malvolio Prankenstein (IMP), Nostalgiaferatoo, and Gwengoolie take a dangerous dip into Irish folklore that is all too real- in the 1993 starting point for the Leprechaun film franchise. Some people rent the farm house of a man who stole a leprechaun’s pot of gold, only to have the wee troublemaker seek him out with dangerous results- but he does imprison the leprechaun in a crate down in the house’s basement. One of the visitors hears cries for help, and, thinking it might be a child- releases the nasty little Irishman, who begins his deadly quest for revenge and his pot of gold.

“Gwengoolie, the Imp and Nostalgiaferatoo bring lots of fun to the fright- in what was Jennifer Aniston’s first film, with Warwick Davis, the star of Willow in the title role- and giving it more humor than originally planned in the script!”

The monthly MeTV double feature begins at 8pm EST, and Svengoolie encourages everyone to use #svengoolie while watching along with the show on X, Bluesky, and anywhere else!

As Summer comes to a close, we’re gearing up for a massive Fall that’s packed with tons of new horror releases, and you can expect Bloody Disgusting’s Fall Preview to be published this coming Monday, August 25. Social media stars Kris Collins (AKA KallMeKris) and Celina Myers (AKA CelinaSpookyBoo) star in House on Eden, which is now available at home after a theatrical release.

The found footage horror film comes courtesy of RLJE Films and Shudder. Collins writes and directs in addition to starring alongside Myers and Jason-Christopher Mayer.

In the film, “Paranormal investigators Kris, Celina, and their videographer Jay expect the usual scares when they set out on their latest case. But after being mysteriously rerouted to an abandoned house deep in the woods, they find themselves facing a force unlike anything they’ve encountered before.

“As the night spirals into chaos, missing crew members and eerie phenomena hint at an ancient, malevolent presence watching their every move.”

An ancient evil unleashes a sound to die for in Whisper of the Witch. The Russian supernatural horror film hit Digital outlets at home this past Tuesday from Well Go USA.

“After a group of teenagers breaks into an abandoned mansion on the edge of town, a mysterious evil arrives, and one of them winds up dead. Detectives from the city are called in to investigate the crime, one with a history with the malevolent force that possesses this manor, and he’s determined to learn the mystery of the witch of Merden Manor. Past collides with present as a phonograph, an altar, and the Whisper of the Witch condemn them all.”

Serik Beyseu (Project Gemini) directs from a script by Sergey Kaluzhanov (Spacewalk), Yuliana Zakrevskaya, and Dmitriy Zhigalov (Project Gemini).

Artur Beschastnyy, Maryana Spivak, Sofya Shidlovskaya (Mermaid: Lake of the Dead), Igor Grabuzov (Tetris), Sergey Safronov (“Stranger Things”), and Valeria Kot star.

For the first time ever, the popular Hell House LLC franchise is on the big screen with FINAL installment Hell House LLC: Lineage, which is now playing in theaters nationwide.

Terror Films Releasing has teamed with Iconic Events to bring Hell House LLC: Lineage to theatres this summer before premiering exclusively on Shudder in late October.

Written and Directed by Stephen Cognetti, the new movie takes a deep dive into the murders that have been occurring in the town of Abaddon for decades. Here’s the synopsis:

Haunted by visions and recurring nightmares years after a near-death experience, Vanessa Shepard finds herself living in the town of Abaddon, unable to break free from its unexplainable hold on her. When people around her suddenly and inexplicably begin to die, she soon uncovers her terrifying connection to the Abaddon Hotel, the Carmichael Manor and the mysterious murders that have been occurring for decades.

This installment sees the return of several characters from Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor including the Carmichael siblings, Patrick, Catherine and Margaret. Also returning are Margot and Rebecca, who met their demise in the Carmichael Manor, and Alice Harper, the documentarian and journalist played by Searra Sawka.

Returning in the leading role is Elizabeth Vermilyea as Vanessa Shephard, the documentarian who died but was resurrected in Hell House LLC: Lake of Fire.

Dinosaurs are back on the big screen in director Luke Sparke’s (Occupation Rainfall, Bring Him To Me) Primitive War, which is now playing in theaters from Fathom Entertainment.

Primitive War adapts author Ethan Pettus’ 2017 sci-fi military novel. Jeremy Piven (“Entourage,” Old School), Tricia Helfer (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Lucifer”), Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood,” Glorious), and Nick Wechsler (“The Boys“) headline the film.

The official synopsis: “Vietnam. 1968. A recon unit known as Vulture Squad is sent to an isolated jungle valley to uncover the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon. They soon discover they are not alone and must face the most terrifying creatures to ever walk the earth.”

Anthony Ingruber (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Aaron Glenane (Interceptor, Danger Close), Carlos Sanson Jr (Bump, Legacies), Ana Thu Nguyen (Mortal Kombat 2), Adolphus Waylee (Nautilus), Richard Brancatisano (The Messenger), Marcus Johnson (Talk to Me), and Jake Ryan (Savage, Underbelly) also star.

Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”) is getting bloody up on the big screen in the psychological survival thriller Trust, which is now playing in select theaters.

The film comes from director Carlson Young and writer Gigi Levangie.

In Trust, “A Hollywood star (Sophie Turner) retreats to a remote cabin — but she’s not alone. Betrayed by the man she trusted most, she’s trapped in a brutal game of survival.”

Rhys Coiro, Billy Campbell, Peter Mensah, Forrest Goodluck, Gianni Paolo, Renata Vaca and the legendary Katey Sagal star alongside Sophie Turner in Trust.

Trust is rated R for “violence, language, some sexuality and drug content.”

Genre icon Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator) appears in the new psychological horror film Lilly Lives Alone, which is now playing in select theaters and on Digital from Dark Sky Films.

The film marks the feature debut of writer-director Martin Melnick.

After the death of her child, Lilly runs away to hide in a lonely corner of her small town. Living alone, she struggles to cope with the traumatic memories of her own upbringing.

10 years after her daughter’s death, the fabric of Lilly’s world is tearing apart. The ghosts of her past are waking up and tonight she must face the depths of her manic madness and a haunting she won’t soon forget. Shannon Beeby, Ryan Jonze, Erin Way (The Collection), Eddie Wollrabe, and Jerry Basham round out the cast. Yellow Veil Pictures produces.

One night, this little girl wakes up, gets out of bed, and stabs her mom. That’s the opening narration for We’re Not Safe Here, and Saban Films brought the horror film to VOD today.

We’re Not Safe Here was written and directed by Solomon Gray.

In the indie horror movie from Saban Films, “After vanishing, a woman returns with a chilling tale. Now, she and her friend are hunted by a dark force that twists fear into reality.”

Hayley McFarland, Sharmita Bhattacharya, Margaret Wuertz, and Caisey Cole star.

Samara Weaving is back on screen in the heist thriller Eenie Meanie for 20th Century Studios, and the violent thriller is now streaming exclusively on Hulu.

Eenie Meanie starring Samara Weaving is rated “R” for “violence/bloody images, pervasive language, nudity, some sexual material and brief drug use.”

Karl Glusman (Watcher) will star alongside Samara Weaving in Eenie Meanie. Shawn Simmons (“Wayne”) directed the film, and Simmons also wrote the screenplay.

“A former teenage getaway driver is dragged back into her unsavory past when a former employer offers her a chance to save the life of her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend.”

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, Deadpool) produced the film.

From Academy Award winning director Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13) comes the true story of settlers who turn their backs on modern society in favor of an uninhabited island in the Galapagos. The thriller Eden opened in theaters this weekend from Vertical.

Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, Sydney Sweeney, Jonathan Tittel, Toby Wallace, and Felix Kammerer star in Ron Howard’s Eden.

The film follows a group of disillusioned outsiders who abandon civilization to settle on a remote, uninhabited island, only to discover that the greatest threat isn’t the brutal climate or deadly wildlife, but each other. As tensions spiral and desperation takes hold, a twisted power struggle unfolds, leading to betrayal, violence, and the deaths of half the colony.

Noah Pink (Tetris) wrote the screenplay, based on a story conceived with Howard.

Sweetest Day — a “knock-off Valentine’s Day” celebrated predominantly in the Midwest on the third Saturday in October — is the latest holiday to spawn a slasher.

Dorée Seay stars as Mindy, a resilient survivor confronted by a vengeful, undead Confederate soldier that nearly ended her life once before.

Genre favorites Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), Kelly Maroney (Chopping Mall), and Russell Todd (Friday the 13th Part 2) also appear in the film.

Nate Boyer (“Mayans M.C.”), Morgana Shaw (“Salem”), Deborah S. Craig (“The Blacklist”), Chris Labadie (M.F.A.), Gaku Space (“Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist”), Gina Su (“Sweet Home”), Alex MacNicoll (“The Society”), and Andy Davoli (“The Sopranos”) round out the cast.

Doug Hawley makes his feature directorial debut adapted from his 2022 proof-of-concept short of the same name. Hawley and Boyer penned the script, based on a story by Hawley and Seay.

“It’s wild to think this all started when Sweetest Day was a festival-wining short film in 2022,” Labadie, who also produces, tells Bloody Disgusting. “And now here we are, trailer out and gearing up for audiences to finally get their sweets on Sweetest Day. As a lifelong horror fanatic, there’s something to be said for bringing that old-school holiday-slasher energy into the modern indie space.
