Fresh off the film’s World Premiere at Fantasia, Lily-Hayes Kaufman’s documentary Occupy Cannes is next headed to the Sitges Film Festival this coming October.

The documentary shines a spotlight on Troma’s unique approach to the Cannes Film Festival over the years, spotlighting their most recent effort to sell Return to Nuke ‘Em High at the event. Exclusively check out the Sitges poster for Occupy Cannes below and read on for more.

The hand-painted poster, created by award-winning artist Marco Mazzoni, debuts ahead of the film’s European Premiere at Sitges in the Brigadoon section, on October 10, 2025.

Occupy Cannes made its World Premiere at Fantasia Film Festival, where Lloyd Kaufman was honored with the Indie Maverick Award. The award was presented to Kaufman by Superman director James Gunn, who got his start making movies with Troma back in the ’90s.

Iconic director Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma Team wage a punk-spirited battle championing independent art at Cannes in Occupy Cannes, presented through the lens of Kaufman’s daughters, Director Lily-Hayes Kaufman (Innards, Rare Birds of Fashion), Cinematographer Charlotte Kaufman (The Jinx; The Alabama Solution) and Producer Lisbeth Kaufman.

Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma Team have been a staple of the Cannes Film Festival since 1974. Renowned for guerrilla tactics and provocative artistry to sell films, Troma’s audacious performances spark controversy and curiosity. Occupy Cannes asks: does Kaufman’s defiant stance attract coveted buyers, or ostracize Troma from the industry’s inner circle?

The documentary features performances and appearances by Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier, Best Friends Forever, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes reboot), Zac Amico (Zac Amico’s Morning Zoo), Justin A. Martell (The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs), Doug Sakmann, Lloyd Kaufman and of course, The Toxic Avenger himself.

Occupy Cannes is presented by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, a Troma Team Production and Saturday Candy Film. Executive Producers Julie Corman and Roger Corman.

A stop-motion horror fantasy film created by renowned artist Skinner (Mastodon, Adult Swim, Super Deluxe, High on Fire, Tony Hawk Pro Skater) and sculptor & monster maestro Ross Kennedy, Shrine of Abominations is finally set to make its grand debut.

The project has been filmed in secret over the past 6 years, and features collaboration from special effects legend Phil Tippett (Mad God) and other top animators at Tippett Studios.

And it’s set to make its World Premiere next month at Fantastic Fest.

As for plot, Shrine of Abominations is set “on the cursed world of Orbus Kaal, Gar-Gnargorath, the malevolent leader of the council of wizards, tries to invoke the cosmic horror forms of Demotep to begin his universal plans of revenge and domination.  Gar Gnargorath’s plans to gain power may not be so easy, as the horrible being known as Morgogg also exists in this realm. Perhaps they should meet!”

The stop-motion animated cosmic tale is a culmination of Skinner and Kennedy’s affinity for Ray Harryhausen, Jack Kirby, and weird cosmic stories of lost lore. Their plan is to launch the Shrine of Abominations universe with “Chapter 1,” which will be only the first part in a much larger tale.

Searchlight Pictures has emerged victorious in a heated bidding battle for Incidents, a psychological thriller spec from Hallow Road scribe William Gillies.

Incidents is said to follow “a woman who escapes from an attempted abduction with no clear motive, vowing thereafter to find her kidnapper and discover why she’s been targeted.”

While not much else is known about the psychological thriller at this time, Deadline reports that the Gillies’ spec script drew 11 competing offers.

Gillies, born on Halloween, is currently best known for his work on the upcoming Halloween-set thriller Hallow Road from Under the Shadow director Babak Anvari. Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”) race against time to get to their daughter in the wake of a car accident in the middle of the night.

I wrote in my review out of the fest, “Like Anvari’s Under the Shadow and Wounds, Hallow Road steeps the supernatural in realism; this is a filmmaker far more interested in exploring the psychological ramifications rather than showy horror visuals. It’s a move that’s likely to frustrate many, especially as it ventures deeper and deeper into a mythic place and the parents realize their daughter isn’t alone on the deserted stretch of road.” 

If Incidents is anything like Hallow Road, expect a sly genre twist to the thriller format.

Ahead of the film’s world premiere at Fantastic Fest, RLJE Films and Shudder have acquired the North American rights to the horror thriller Night Patrol via XYZ Films.

Night Patrol is the sophomore feature from Ryan Prows (Lowlife), co-written by Prows and Shaye Ogbonna (“The Penguin”), Tim Cairo (Off Ramp) and Jake Gibson (He Bled Neon).

Jermaine Fowler (The Blackening) stars alongside Justin Long (Barbarian), RJ Cyler (The Harder They Fall), Freddie Gibbs (Down With the King), CM Punk (Girl on the Third Floor), YG (White Boy Rick), Flying Lotus (Ash), Dermot Mulroney (Scream VI), Jon Oswald (Lowlife) and Nicki Micheaux (“The Shield”).

RLJE Films and Shudder will release Night Patrol in theaters in 2026.

In the upcoming genre movie, “an LAPD officer must put aside his differences with the area’s street gangs when he discovers a local police task force is harboring a horrific secret that endangers the residents of the housing projects he grew up in.”
