A feature adaptation for one of the most depraved comics ever, Crossed, is on the way from director Rob Jabbaz (The Sadness), and it’s found its cast.

Devin Druid (13 Reasons Why) and Ash Santos (American Horror Story) will lead the ensemble cast, THR reports.

They’ll play Stan and Cindy, the leaders of a group of strangers thrown together as they attempt to escape northward away from the infected known as the Crossed. In this world, those affected by a mysterious disease appear to have a cross on their foreheads and follow their worst impulses. They’re the equivalent of zombies, but a lot meaner and psychotic without losing intellect.

The rest of the cast includes Ethan Jones Romero (Law & Order) as Thomas; Kyla Hee (Psychosis) as Kelly; Chido Nwokocha (Top Gun: Maverick) as Kitrick; Spenser Granese (Dope Thief) as Brett; Bob Morley (The 100) as Randall; Ana Mulvoy Ten (American Crime) as Sheena; Steven Hack (Little Death) as ‘Geoff; and newcomer Lorenzo Ross as Patrick.

Owen Harn (Cobra Kai) will lead the infected Crossed as the villain Horsecock, along with Fedor Steer (Haunted Mansion) as Face and Kelvin Adekunle (City of Love) as Stump. Angie Campbell will play Amy, and Peter Falls is set as Joel.

Crossed comic creator Garth Ennis, who also created The Boys and Preacher, penned the script, based on the original 10 issues of his Jacen Burrows-illustrated comic published by Avatar Press between 2008 and 2010.

“Fans of Crossed have speculated on our cast for some time, and in the spirit of helping all Crossed fans survive the coming apocalypse, we are pleased to reveal our exceptional cast who are bringing Garth’s thrilling and horror-filled comic series to life on screen,” said producer Carl Choi of Six Studios, who’s backing the project.

Those familiar with Crossed know just how gnarly the comic could get, though this list of depraved and disturbing moments gives an idea. Considering director Rob Jabbaz drew inspiration from Ennis’ comic for his feature debut, well, we’re likely in for a brutal time.

Crossed is now in post-production after wrapping photography in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for more on this depraved horror adaptation as we learn it.

A woman wakes up in a moving camper trailer with a strange wound on her arm, unaware how she got there in Hellcat, the feature directorial debut by writer/director Brock Bodell (Ultrasound). That setup gives way to a fast-moving chamber piece that hinges on the element of surprise, specifically designed for audiences to go in knowing as little as possible.

Bodell plays it close to the vest, toying with subgenres and expectations to send viewers on an unexpected horror journey.

The woman plunged into a survival nightmare is Lena (Dakota Gorman), a young woman who’d been camping alone, only to awaken in the camper. It’s an alarming situation that naturally puts Lena on the defensive, especially when the camper’s driver, Clive (Todd Terry), explains over the intercom that he can’t let her go with that gnarly injury on her arm. Clive seems well-intentioned, and his warnings about that wound becoming infected ring true, but the stressful standoff between captive and driver escalates, and reality begins to blur in increasingly dangerous ways.

Hellcat smartly keeps it simple, with most of the self-contained story taking place almost entirely within the camper and resting on Gorman’s capable shoulders. Her Lena is smart but flawed, prone to making impulsive yet understandably desperate choices, yet guarded and scrappy. It’s also a physically demanding role; Lena explores and thrashes about every inch of the limited cabin space out of anger, fear, and sweat-inducing pain. That lively performance helps retain visual interest in a fairly dialogue-heavy film reliant upon the back-and-forth between Lena and Clive, whose actions seem at odds with his warm demeanor.

Terry’s gentle southern drawl and genuine-sounding concern for Lena’s medical predicament instill doubt; who is the reliable narrator here? Bodell uses this dangling question to toy with horror conventions. What begins as a harrowing thriller slowly takes a welcome detour into one of horror’s more underserved corners, and Bodell finds innovative ways to tackle it through more meager budget constraints. While that makes for a far less flashy entry in this particular subgenre than expected, Hellcat thrills for its unconventional approach all the same.

Horror fans will connect the clues and figure out what horror we’re dealing with long before Lena does, but Bodell’s tightly edited feature doesn’t make it easy to predict how it’ll play out once the cards are fully laid on the table.

It’s not just the true horror threat that surprises in Bodell’s debut, but the tender and affecting emotional arcs for its characters. The chamber piece structure and immediacy of its plot mean that time doesn’t always feel as urgent as Clive insists, but the intimacy of the setting is rewarded in the third act, with a reckoning of both Clive’s and Lena’s choices and the love driving them.

Hellcat is a bit of a Trojan horror that defies easy classification, by design. Bodell’s sneaky debut feature is occasionally too sparse in its worldbuilding in its bid to preserve the mystery, but not enough to detract from the thrilling road thriller that transforms into a completely left-field type of horror we don’t get nearly enough of. The stripped-down tribute to a classic horror staple catches you off guard in more ways than one, marking Bodell as one to watch.

The official synopsis: “Vietnam. 1968. A recon unit known as Vulture Squad is sent to an isolated jungle valley to uncover the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon. They soon discover they are not alone and must face the most terrifying creatures to ever walk the earth.”

20th Century Studios debuted the first 15 minutes of Predator: Badlands during San Diego Comic-Con tonight, and a brand new official poster has also been released. Check it out below.

Predator: Badlands centers on an unexpected team-up between a young Yautja warrior and a Weyland-Yutani synth, with Prey director Dan Trachtenberg’s film bringing the Alien and Predator franchises back together. Badlands will release in theaters November 7, 2025, in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD 3D, Cinemark XD, 4DX, ScreenX, and premium screens.

Elle Fanning stars alongside Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi.

The newest entry in the franchise is set on a remote planet where a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Elle Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. Watch the new trailer right here.

Owned by Disney under the 20th Century Studios umbrella, the Predator franchise of course kicked off with the original action-horror classic in 1987. That was followed by sequels Predator 2, Predators, The Predator, and Prey, as well as two Alien vs. Predator movies. The long-running franchise also includes all kinds of comic books and games.

It’s not over yet. Hulu is debuting a new extended cut of Predator: Killer of Killers tonight, bringing with it the long-awaited return of two major Predator franchise characters.

At San Diego Comic-Con today, Prey filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg announced that the new cut of the animated anthology will begin streaming tonight, at 7 pm PST, and features an epilogue scene featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch character from the original 1987 movie, as well as Danny Glover’s Lieutenant Mike Harrigan from Predator 2.

The anthology, initially released on June 6, features a triptych depicting three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause.

Killer of Killers ended with a final shot of Naru (Amber Midthunder), the Comanche warrior who bested the Predator in Prey. Trachtenberg previously teased what that might mean going forward, “The fun is that now we have the end of Prey set up something, and then there’s this, and I love the slow play of it all. I think it’s cool, rather than smushing everything together inside one movie right away, we can really be elegant with our storytelling and hopefully aspire to that. So, it is not a setup for what’s in Badlands, but it is a setup for what could happen afterward.”

Even more intriguing is that Trachtenberg told the SDCC crowd that he’s met with Schwarzenegger about the future of the IP, inspiring hope for Dutch’s return in the flesh.

The anthology is directed by Dan Trachtenberg with Josh Wassung, from animation company The Third Floor, serving as co-director. The film stars Lindsay LaVanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez, and Michael Biehn and is written by Micho Robert Rutare and story by Trachtenberg and Rutare, based on characters created by Jim Thomas & John Thomas.

We can’t wait to see the return of Dutch and Harrigan, even in animated form.

In the animated movie’s wake, Predator: Badlands hits theaters on November 7.

Based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel of the same name, The Long Walk arrives in theaters on September 12 from Lionsgate. Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine) directed.

The story follows Raymond Garraty, a 16-year old who takes part in an annual contest in which 100 teens must journey, nonstop and under strict rules, until only one is left alive.

JT Mollner (Strange Darling) wrote the film’s screenplay.

Gary Dauberman, through his Coin Operated banner, is teaming with Brightburn director David Yarovesky to develop a new horror movie, He Never Dies, Deadline reports today.

It appears the title is apt, as the logline reads: “The man they killed keeps coming back. Bigger. Stronger. Less human. No matter what they do…HE. NEVER. DIES.”

Of course, no details have been revealed beyond that, but it feels safe to predict that it’ll be vastly different from He Never Died, which starred Henry Rollins as an immortal cannibal unable to die.

Both Dauberman and Yarovesky, who will write and direct the upcoming project, have been sticking closely to the genre space recently. Yarovesky most recently helmed Locked, a Sam Raimi-produced thriller starring Anthony Hopkins and Bill Skarsgård. He previously directed Netflix’s gateway horror fantasy movie Nightbooks.

Dauberman most recently produced Until Dawn, the feature adaptation of the beloved PlayStation game directed by David F. Sandberg. He’s behind massive horror hits like It, Annabelle, and The Nun, and more recently helmed the latest Salem’s Lot adaptation. Coin Operated is also currently behind the modern Urban Legend reboot.

The news arrives close on the heels of Human Remains, a new horror feature Dauberman is developing with The Den filmmaker Zachary Donohue.
