Iron Man. Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Avengers. Deadpool & Wolverine. The famed Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con has become the go-to place for major studios to preview their upcoming big screen blockbusters, from new installments in billion dollar franchises to Marvel’s latest superhero offerings. Back in 2019, Deadline fittingly referred to San Diego Comic-Con as “Cannes for Capes,” calling Hall H “the biggest stage” at the annual event as well as “a mandatory stop for anybody in the business of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, or superhero fare.”

But many of the major studios – including Marvel and WB/DC – are sitting out SDCC this year, leaving some big Hall H spots to be filled. And you better believe we’re filling one of them.

Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting are excited to announce today that director Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger will be oozing into Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con this summer!

The unforgettable and wildly UNRATED panel is taking place on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 5:30PM – 6:30PM at San Diego Comic-Con, marking the very first time that an unrated horror movie has ever hosted its own Hall H panel on the grand stage!

Before it hits theaters on August 29, 2025, writer & director Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore, writer for Marvel Comics/Dark Horse Comics), iconic Troma co-founder Lloyd Kaufman, and an all-star cast including Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings franchise), Jacob Tremblay (Room, Wonder), and Taylour Paige (Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Zola) will come together for a toxic takeover.

Taking place in Hall H, the panel will feature exclusive clips from the film, limited-edition swag for attendees and behind-the-scenes chaos with the cast and creators.

We hear there’s another superhero movie coming out this Summer. But this Avenger is the hero we really need now. Primetime Emmy-winning actor Peter Dinklage stars as Toxie!

Fighting crime doesn’t pay, but selling out does in Mr. Melvin, a new reconstruction of The Toxic Avenger Part II and The Toxic Avenger Part III based on the original script.

Get an exclusive look at the official poster by Emmy Award-winning artist Dean Haspiel below. No stranger to Toxie, Haspiel illustrated a variant cover for Ahoy Comics’s The Toxic Avenger comic, in addition to working with the likes of Marvel and DC.

The film will premiere as part of Troma-Thon 2025 at the Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Lehighton, PA on July 18-19, followed by a screening at Popcorn Frights Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale, FL on August 8.

“The fellas sent me a link to the Mr. Melvin cut that combined and edited Toxic Avenger II and III back into its original screenplay, and we discussed the best approach to the poster,” Haspiel tells Bloody Disgusting.

“They wanted Toxie in a red shirt with a high collar and sunglasses akin to Tom Cruise in Risky Business. And we wanted to show the yin and yang of Toxie in the glare of those sunglasses; his former persona versus Beelzebub. We also wanted to show Toxie’s girlfriend, so we let her ride the wind surfboard that Toxie uses to travel to Japan in the movie. I sent them a few ideas. We made some adjustments, and voila, a movie poster was born!”

Directors Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz gave Andrew L. Miller, Kaufman’s assistant, and Adam Peltier, star of Troma’s upcoming film The Power of Positive Murder, their blessing to edit the two sequels together from the recently unearthed original script.

Toxie actor Ron Fazio provides new voiceover for Mr. Melvin. He stars alongside Phoebe Legere, John Altamura, Rick Collins, Lisa Gaye, Rikiya Yasuoka, Tsutomu Sekine, Shinoburyû, Mayako Katsuragi, Jessica Dublin, and Michael J. Kaplan.

After ridding Tromaville of evil, Melvin Junko, the Toxic Avenger, has nothing left to fight. Evil has been vanquished, his mop is clean, and his heart feels… empty. Depressed and emotionally adrift, a psychiatrist with questionable motives encourages him to reconnect with his long-lost father in Japan. But this heartfelt journey is merely a charade, as Apocalypse Inc. lures Toxie overseas in order to blast him with Anti-Tromatons, corrupting his superhuman senses.

Blinded to the forces of evil, Toxie returns home and becomes a corporate puppet for infernal forces bent on enslaving Tromaville… and the world! Can the Toxic Avenger reclaim his soul and save Tromaville once again, or is the hero of the people doomed to become the very monster he always feared?

Troma-Thon tickets are on sale now. Along with Mr. Melvin, the two-night event includes screenings of Surf Nazis Must Die, Rise of the Super Tromettes, Rabid Grannies, Class of Nuke ‘Em High, and Def By Temptation.

Macon Blair, who helmed The Toxic Avenger reboot hitting theaters on August 29, praised Mr. Melvin as “a cinematic treasure reformed from the mists of history as always intended. Troma kids rejoice!”

An unsettling alien abduction is compounding the anxieties of an expecting couple in the new trailer for Descendent from RLJE Films.

Produced by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Spring, The Endless, Something in the Dirt), Descendent will be released in limited theaters on August 8 before expanding nationwide & VOD on August 15.

Set in present-day Los Angeles, Descendent follows “Sean Bruner, a school security guard who is haunted by childhood trauma while preparing for the birth of his first child with his wife, Andrea. After a beam of light appears in the sky during a late-night shift, Sean wakes up in the hospital with an inexplicable talent for vivid, unsettling drawings of extraterrestrials and desert landscapes. As his visions blur the line between dreams and reality, Sean’s grip on sanity unravels. With time running out, he must confront his fears to escape his family’s tragic legacy.”

Ross Marquand (“The Walking Dead”) and Sarah Bolger (A Good Woman is Hard to Find, The Lazarus Effect) star.

Descendent is the feature debut by writer/director Peter Cilella, who previously starred in Benson & Moorhead’s The Endless.

That’s the creepy poem attached to the reveal of a brand new official poster for Keeper, an upcoming “dark trip” horror movie from NEON and director Osgood Perkins (Longlegs, The Monkey). Check out the poster for Keeper down below.

Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) and Rossif Sutherland (Possessor) will star in Keeper, which is shrouded in secrecy at the present moment. Stay tuned for more as we learn it.

We expect Keeper will be released in theaters in late 2025.

“Keeper follows a couple as they escape for a romantic anniversary weekend at a secluded cabin. When Malcolm (Sutherland) suddenly returns to the city, Liz (Maslany) finds herself isolated and in the presence of an unspeakable evil that unveils the cabin’s horrifying secrets.”

Nick Lepard (Dangerous Animals) wrote the screenplay.

This will be Perkins’ third movie with NEON, in the wake of box office hits Longlegs and The Monkey. Perkins previously directed The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and the arthouse fairytale adaptation Gretel & Hansel.
