M. Night Shyamalan has rounded out the cast of his supernatural romance thriller Remain, Deadline reports.

Julie Hagerty (Airplane), Jay O. Sanders (Along Came a Spider), Tracy Ifeachor (“The Pitt”), Hannah James (“Mercy Street”), Caleb Ruminer (“Finding Carter”), Kieran Mulcare (“Jessica Jones”), and Maria Dizzia (“Orange is the New Black”) have joined the production.

Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko), Phoebe Dynevor (“Bridgerton”), and Ashley Walters (“Adolescence”) lead the cast.

Currently shooting in Rhode Island, the film is due out on October 23, 2026 from Warner Bros.

Shyamalan co-created the story with author Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, A Walk to Remember), independently writing a screenplay and a novel based on the same concept and characters but tailored to their respective mediums.

Sparks’ Remain novel publishes on October 7, 2025 via Random House. Here’s the book’s synopsis:

When New York architect Tate Donovan arrives in Cape Cod to design his best friend’s summer home, he is hoping to make a fresh start. Recently discharged from an upscale psychiatric facility where he was treated for acute depression, he is still wrestling with the pain of losing his beloved sister.

Remain is produced by Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan for Blinding Edge Pictures alongside Sparks’ longtime producing partner Theresa Park and Marc Bienstock. Sparks serves as executive producer.

Gary Dauberman, through his Coin Operated banner, is teaming with The Den filmmaker Zachary Donohue on the new horror movie Human Remains, Deadline reports today.

The Donohue-penned script seems to bring a new angle to the exorcism subgenre: the horror takes place on a plane mid-flight.

Human Remains will follow a flight carrying the body of a priest who died during an exorcism. Naturally, the flight experiences some unexpected turbulence. 

Donohue is the co-writer and director of 2013’s The Den, one of the first screenlife horror movies that has since amassed a cult following. The filmmaker recently collaborated with Dauberman’s Coin Operated on the upcoming Untitled Horror Movie from André Øvredal, starring Melissa Leo, and is currently in post-production. He’s also behind the indie cosmic horror/mockumentary series The Unknowable.

Dauberman most recently produced Until Dawn, the feature adaptation of the beloved PlayStation game directed by David Sandberg. He’s behind massive horror hits like It, Annabelle, and The Nun, and more recently helmed the latest Salems Lot adaptation. Coin Operated is also currently behind the modern Urban Legend reboot.

Kane Parsons’ massively viral YouTube horror universe known as The Backrooms is headed to the big screen courtesy of A24 and producer James Wan, and Variety reports that Creep actor Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett (“True Detective”), Lukita Maxwell (Afraid) and Avan Jogia (Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City) have joined the cast.

They join previously announced lead stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve.

The science fiction horror film is based on the world of Kane Parsons’s viral videos, and the anthological series debuted in 2022 and has amassed over 190 million views to date. The film plot is being kept under wraps at this time, but the viral videos chronicled a young filmmaker’s descent into a strange labyrinthine dimension that may be home to otherworldly denizens.

The Backrooms marks 20-year-old Parson’s feature directorial debut, making him the youngest filmmaker ever to collaborate with A24. The screenplay was written by Will Soodik (“Westworld”).

A24, Atomic Monster, Chernin Entertainment, and 21 Laps Entertainment are joining forces on the project, with Roberto Patino (“Westworld,” “Sons of Anarchy”) scripting.

James Wan and Michael Clear are producing for Wan’s Atomic Monster.

Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”) is getting bloody up on the big screen this summer in the psychological survival thriller Trust, and Bloody Disgusting has scored some exclusive images that serve as a testament to that promise. Check them out below and read on for more!

Republic Pictures will release Trust in select theaters on August 22, 2025. The film comes from director Carlson Young (Upgraded) and screenwriter Gigi Levangie.

In Trust, “A Hollywood star (Sophie Turner) retreats to a remote cabin — but she’s not alone. Betrayed by the man she trusted most, she’s trapped in a brutal game of survival.”

Rhys Coiro, Billy Campbell, Peter Mensah, Forrest Goodluck, Gianni Paolo, Renata Vaca and the legendary Katey Sagal star alongside Sophie Turner in Trust.

Twisted Pictures’s Dan Heffner and Ketura Kestin will executive produce the upcoming film with Lena Roklin of Luber Roklin Entertainment. Ethan Harari will co-produce.

Producers also include Miles Koules, Ketura Kestin, and Oren Koules (SAW).

Trust is rated R for “violence, language, some sexuality and drug content.”
