While a Superman sequel remains a strong possibility, James Gunn and DC Studios seem to be focusing more on other projects as they build out the DC Universe.

Filmmaking trio Toby Poser, John Adams, and Zelda Adams (Hellbender, Where the Devil Roams, Hell Hole) are collectively known as the Adams Family, and their next horror project is a film titled Mother of Flies. Variety reports this afternoon that the film will keep the Adams Family in business with Shudder, as the streamer has picked up the rights to the movie.
Variety details, “Written, directed, and starring Toby Poser, John Adams, and their daughter Zelda Adams, the film also features their older daughter, Lulu Adams, in a co-starring role.”
Shudder will bring Mother of Flies to streaming sometime in 2026.
Here’s the plot synopsis for the “haunted fairytale”…
“Mickey faces a terminal diagnosis, even though she isn’t ready to die yet. Heading into the woods with her father, she seeks dark magic at the hands of mysterious recluse, Solveig. For three days, Mickey endures Solveig’s extreme rituals. But the ‘cure’ comes at a cost.”

The legacy sequel to the 1997 slasher sinks its hook into theaters this Friday, July 18, from Sony.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) directs from a script she co-wrote with Sam Lansky, based on a story by Robinson and Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.).
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer… and is hell-bent on revenge.
As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport massacre of 1997 for help.
Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Madelyn Cline, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, and Austin Nichols round out the cast.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her just-published review, “I Know What You Did Last Summer is stuck in the past, delivering a legacy sequel that comes closest to recapturing the look, tone, and feel of the original. But it also makes for a fairly predictable yet entertaining meat and potatoes slasher that steadfastly clings to its formula.”

Searchlight Pictures announced today that they’re teaming with IMAX for special screenings of director Darren Aronofsky’s psychological thriller Black Swan.
On August 21 and 24, Black Swan 15th Anniversary Exclusive: Remastered for IMAX will launch on over 200 screens as the beginning of a series of celebrations for the film’s anniversary this year, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the film’s full cinematic scope and depth for the first time ever in the IMAX format.
The new restoration comes with a brand new trailer and poster, below.
Black Swan follows “Nina, a dedicated dancer whose pursuit of perfection spirals into obsession when a new rival joins the company. As she prepares for the demanding dual role of the SwanQueen, the mounting pressure begins to blur the line between reality and delusion—leading to a mesmerizing descent into the dark depths of ambition, identity, and madness.”
Natalie Portman won a Best Actress Academy Award for her role as a mentally tortured ballerina on the brink of fame in New York City.
Mila Kunis, Vincent Cassel, Barbara Hershey, and Winona Ryder also star in the film.
The exclusive Black Swan screenings will be held at select IMAX theatres in major cities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Ticket holders will take home a commemorative 15th anniversary poster while supplies last.

Black Swan grossed over $329 million at the global box office upon release in 2010 and was nominated for 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and Winner of Best Actress for Portman.

As though Taylor Sheridan didn’t have enough to do already, his show Landman is being sued by the estate of the late radio broadcaster Paul Harvey. Here’s why.
Robert Eggers will be following up Nosferatu with Werwulf for Focus Features, and Variety reports tonight that Nosferatu star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has signed onto the project.
Additionally, Lily-Rose Depp (Nosferatu) is currently in talks to join the film as well.
Set in the 13th century and being described as a medieval horror movie, Robert Eggers’ Werwulf will howl its way into theaters from Focus Features on Christmas Day 2026.
The filmmaker co-wrote the screenplay for Werwulf alongside Sjón, the Icelandic poet and novelist who previously co-wrote the Viking movie The Northman with Eggers. Sjón has also been announced as the co-writer for a new Labyrinth movie being directed by Eggers.
Chris Columbus, who produced Nosferatu, is on board to produce Werwulf.
While Universal hasn’t had much success with their recent attempts to bring classic monsters back to life for today’s audiences, with this year’s Wolf Man performing poorly at the box office, their Focus Features branch is looking to pick up some of that slack. Nosferatu has out-grossed recent “Universal Monsters” films including The Invisible Man, Renfield, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Abigail and the aforementioned Wolf Man, so staying in the Robert Eggers business and allowing him to make his own prestige monster movies is a wise choice.

BoulderLight Pictures (Barbarian) and Divide/Conquer (Heart Eyes) are teaming up for a radical new take on Amityville, and they’ve enlisted Deadstream duo Joseph and Vanessa Winter.
Joseph and Vanessa Winter will helm the feature from their own script.
The original 1979 Amityville Horror film followed a newlywed couple and their children as they battled a demonic presence in their new home. It was based on the 1977 novel by Jay Anson and inspired no shortage of sequels and offshoots.
This new Amityville won’t be based on that IP. Per Deadline, “Its roots are instead in the famed real-life paranormal story behind those stories, with the film offering a fresh look at the notorious Amityville house itself on 112 Ocean Avenue itself, and a legend situated in the public domain.”
Interestingly, Anson’s novel drew historical basis from the grisly 1974 murders in which Ronald DeFeo Jr. killed his parents and four siblings in their home at 112 Ocean in Amityville, New York. The Amityville Horror tells of the Lutz family after they move into the house a year later.
Don’t expect the DeFeo murders or the Lutz story play a role in this new take on Amityville, though.
What we can expect is a completely different take on the famous haunted house story from a pair of filmmakers with an eye for fun horror. The Winters are fresh off of their debut feature, Deadstream, that premiered in 2022, with Joseph also starring, and was released by Shudder. They are also known for their segment “To Hell and Back” for V/H/S/99, also on Shudder.
If that’s not enough reason to get excited, then the producers’ show of confidence might: producers are looking to fast-track the film, and targeting late 2025 for production.
