When cutting-edge research leads to the creation of living dinosaurs, a team of scientists on a secluded island must risk their lives to prevent the rapidly growing creatures from escaping and attacking the mainland.

Daniel Baldwin (John Carpenter’s Vampires) stars alongside Danielle Titus, Esmeree Sterling, Bryan Scamman, and William Castrogiovanni.

Produced by David Michael Latt (Sharknado, “Z Nation”), the sci-fi action horror film is directed by Marcel Walz (Blood Feast) and written by Alex Heerman (Megaboa).

A former cult member is haunted by her erstwhile leader in our exclusive clip from So Fades the Light.

Praised by Bird Box author Josh Malerman for its “a chilling, full circle showdown,” the film hits Digital on June 24 from Gravitas Ventures.

Rob Cousineau and Chris Rosik of the filmmaking collective Get Super Rad direct from a script by Cousineau.

“Right-wing extremism is terrifying, not just because of what it does in the moment, but because of the long-term damage it does. So Fades the Light drops you into that aftermath. It’s about facing hard truths, and finding your way back to yourself,” Get Super Rad tell Bloody Disgusting.

“A lot of people who fall into extremist spaces are isolated and vulnerable. They’re promised safety by people who claim to have all the answers—but end up losing their voice and identity in the process. This film explores what it looks like to rebuild, to carry the shame of who you used to be, and still believe you’re worthy of a full life.”

They continue, “We made this on a tiny budget with a small crew and a lot of heart, friends, and favors. Influenced by films like Paris, Texas and Wendy and Lucy, and grounded in real-world research on far-right leaders, we wanted it to feel honest and raw. We also worked closely with our cast—shaping the script to fit their voices so the story could breathe and feel real. Collaboration is what brought this film to life.”

As a girl, Sun was a God Child worshiped by a cult of violent religious extremists. Her life in the cult ended as police stormed their compound and exchanged fire with the gun-toting flock of men, women, and children. Many faced a bloody end while their Reverend leader was whisked off to prison.

15 years later, Sun is now living like a drifter, disconnected from the world in her ramshackle van, her only constant. In an attempt to confront the trauma of her youth, she decides to travel back to the compound where it all happened. What Sun doesn’t know is that the Reverend is freshly out of prison, also on his way back home.

Writer/Director Demián Rugna’s gnarly possession horror movie When Evil Lurks ended on a somber note that left the door ajar for continuation. The filmmaker recently revealed that he’s not done yet; a sequel is already in development.

Rugna recently appeared on an episode of “La Broma Infinita” from the Argentine streaming channel Gelantina, where he spoke about filming When Evil Lurks and the status of its sequel.

The horror filmmaker tells the hosts, roughly translated, that “We have part two written, yes, and we’re just waiting for the funding to come through. We have to make some script modifications to make it perfect, but the studio that wants to make it is already there.”

While Rugna doesn’t mention which studio is ready to produce, it’s worth noting that Shudder was behind the first film, co-producing with Aramos Cine and Machaco Films. Even better is that Rugna noting the script is near completion means that we’re one step closer to production.

The script is also key to Rugna’s brand of horror. The director previously told BD, “It’s not easy to scare without a script that makes scares. The problem is when you have a script that really does not scare you, you use the jump scare all the time. I guess to make a script in which you don’t know what is going to happen in two minutes with this character, in two minutes with this element, give me the chance to kick you at any time. And you are not prepared for that. If I work, if I make a script that you can’t anticipate what happened or where I am going. You won’t feel protected because you recognize where I’m going. That’s why I’m making movies for horror fans, not for the wider audience.”

In When Evil Lurks, “a pair of brothers find a mutilated corpse near their property and convene with the locals to suss it out. They soon learn that the odd happenings in their village are the cause of a spirit that’s found its way into a local man waiting for the proper protocols to rid his body of the festering demon. An escape attempt ensues as the film keeps its protagonists on edge, racing against imminent danger to shake the spirit’s relentless clutches.”

If you’re a fan of Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead’s mind-bending universe, you will recognize actor Shane Brady from films like The Endless and Synchronic. But he is also a talented filmmaker. In 2022, Brady’s directorial debut, Breathing Happy, a weird, wonderful journey through grief and recovery, had its World Premiere at Chattanooga Film Festival. Brady is back for CFF 2025 with his sophomore feature film, the hilariously riotous Hacked: A Double Entendre of Rage Fueled Karma, which he wrote and directed, and believe it or not, it’s based on a true story.

In 2021, Brady and his wife Emily were planning to buy their first house but were, unfortunately, the victims of a hacker who stole their $20,000 deposit via wire fraud. So, they decided to make a movie about the experience with the log line, “The first ten minutes of this film are based on true events. The rest is what we wish we could have done to that bastard.” The result is a true crime revenge film full of eccentric characters, wildly funny dark humor, whimsical sequences, and ceaseless pandemonium.

In Hacked: A Double Entendre of Rage Fueled Karma, Brady plays Mark Rumble, who, along with his wife Amy (Augie Duke) and teenage sons Freddy (Collin Thompson) and Ralph (Owen Atlas), are looking forward to buying their first home. Freddy and Ralph spend their time making videos for fun and gaming online. After Freddy and Ralph get into an argument with another gamer, who they have no idea is Florida’s most elusive hacker, the family’s life erupts into chaos. The hacker, who has been dubbed The Chameleon, has scammed countless victims out of massive amounts of money and has somehow eluded capture. The disagreement with the teenage Rumbles, plus the fact the guy’s a raging asshole, is enough to cause him to steal the family’s $20,000 down payment for their new house. Chandler Riggs, who you will recognize as young Carl Grimes in “The Walking Dead”, gives an exceptionally entertaining performance as the despicable, self-absorbed Chameleon who scams people for fun. Riggs makes it very easy to hate this guy.

Brady is superb as Mark and skilled at deadpan line delivery, which perfectly complements Duke’s frantic portrayal of Amy. Thompson and Atlas are outstanding as Freddy and Ralph and their banter with each other feels natural. The Rumbles have such genuine chemistry as a family and there are so many peculiar characters, you would think this movie was probably a lot of fun to make, despite the fact it came about because Brady was the victim of a hacker in real life.

Desperate for money and not wanting to lose their new home, Mark resorts to donating bone marrow, and the family is forced to move into a shady motel. Much like the true story, the bank won’t help them, and the police are useless, so the Rumbles decide to take matters into their own hands and find the Chameleon to get their money back, but also to seek vengeance on the slimy scammer. To their surprise, unconventional CIA agents Kate (Katelyn Nacon) and Nova (Mia Castillo) are willing to work with the Rumbles to capture the Chameleon. While Mark is recovering from bone marrow donation at the motel, Freddy, Ralph, and Agents Kate and Nova hatch an ill-conceived plan to locate the devious hacker and seek retribution for the pain and
suffering the Chameleon inflicted on the Rumbles and so many other victims of his scams. He hasn’t just stolen money; he’s stolen guitars from the rock band Underoath, as well as a five-foot-tall battle axe. If you don’t already have a good idea of just how over-the-top this movie is, in one hysterical sequence, Brady stops the movie, looks directly at the camera, and points out that a completely different actor portrays Mark in a scene, and then the movie continues.

Hacked: A Double Entendre of Rage Fueled Karma is an uproarious true crime revenge caper that features skillful cinematography, imaginative storytelling, and a fantastic ensemble cast. No exaggeration, this movie is spectacularly, jaw-droppingly laugh out loud funny and the most fun you will have watching a movie this year.

While we wait for the trailer tomorrow (June 24), Lionsgate has released the official poster for The Strangers: Chapter 2 this afternoon. It comes with the tagline “Survival was just the beginning,” a reference to the film continuing the nightmare experienced by final girl Maya (Madelaine Petsch) in The Strangers: Chapter 1. The Strangers: Chapter 2 will release in theaters on September 26, 2025.

Both upcoming sequels to The Strangers: Chapter 1 were filmed at the very same time by director Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, Deep Blue Sea).

In The Strangers: Chapter 1, “After their car breaks down in an eerie small town, a young couple are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin. Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive.”

Unleashed into theaters in May 2024, Chapter 1 wasn’t a hit with critics, but it did manage to scare up $47 million worldwide, outgrossing 2018’s The Strangers: Prey at Night ($31 million).
