Prepare for a sea of blood, because the public domain slasher Popeye’s Revenge sailed onto VOD exclusively on Amazon via ITN Distribution this past Tuesday, February 18.
The indie horror film turns the classic character into a slasher villain when the legend of Popeye haunts a group of counselors as they intend to open a summer camp.
William Stead directs from a script by Harry Boxley (Cinderella’s Curse).
Steven Murphy stars as Popeye alongside Poohniverse alumni Kelly Rian Sanson, Danielle Scott, Danielle Ronald, and Amanda Jane York.
Created by E.C. Segar, Popeye the Sailor first appeared in 1929 in the King Features comic strip Thimble Theatre. Popeye’s Revenge is the first of a few horror movies to exploit the character’s recent public domain status, with Popeye the Slayer Man also due out this year.
The new horror movie from Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, and producer Zach Cregger (Barbarian), Companion starring Sophie Thatcher (Heretic) is now available at home.

Director Osgood Perkins is back with NEON’s The Monkey, a horror-comedy adaptation of Stephen King’s same-titled short story, and it’s now playing in theaters nationwide.

In The Monkey, “When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy.”
The Monkey is a short horror story that appeared in King’s Skeleton Crew, a 1985 collection that also featured The Mist, The Jaunt, The Raft, Survivor Type, The Reach, and more.
Theo James (“The White Lotus”), Tatiana Maslany (She–Hulk: Attorney at Law), Elijah Wood (Maniac), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends) and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek) star in this one.
Fresh off its four Academy Award nominations, Robert Eggers‘ Nosferatu is now streaming exclusively on Peacock. The box office hit sunk its fangs into the streamer today.
Both the 132-minute theatrical cut and the 136-minute extended cut are available on the streaming service, along with a behind-the-scenes featurette, Nosferatu: An Inside Look.
A reimagination of F.W. Murnau‘s 1922 silent horror classic, Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake. Bill Skarsgård stars as Count Orlok with Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, and Willem Dafoe.

Fear has a new face in director Craig Tuohy’s home invasion movie Everyone Is Going to Die, which begins when a father invites his estranged daughter over for a birthday dinner.
But when the luxury home is invaded by two masked individuals armed with shotguns, a lethal game of cat and mouse ensues, culminating in a life-altering revelation.
Everyone Is Going to Die is now available on VOD outlets.

The Monkey, the new Stephen King adaptation from Longlegs director Osgood Perkins, has some surprising cameos. Let’s take a look.
Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep) is writing a Clayface movie for DC, and THR confirms this afternoon that a director has been found.
Flanagan himself will NOT be directing the upcoming Clayface movie, with James Watkins (Eden Lake, The Woman in Black, Speak No Evil) taking a seat in the director’s chair.
Warner Bros. will release DC’s live action Clayface movie on September 11, 2026.
The Hollywood Reporter details, “Sources say the film is budgeted at $40 million and is a Hollywood horror tale centering on a B-movie actor who injects himself with a substance to keep himself relevant, only to find out that he can reshape his face and form, becoming a walking piece of clay. The movie is due to shoot later this year.”
Flanagan tweeted back in 2021 that his dream Clayface movie was a “horror/thriller/tragedy,” and it sounds like that’s ultimately the movie he ended up writing for DC.
The Clayface character was introduced by DC Comics in Detective Comics #40 way back in June 1940, an adversary of Batman with a clay-like form and shapeshifting abilities. The character has been played on screen in both animation and live action, with actors including Alan Tudyk, Ron Perlman, Brian McManamon, and Lorraine Burroughs having played the role.
Matt Reeves (The Batman) and Lynn Harris will produce through 6th & Idaho Productions. And as a reminder, James Gunn and Peter Safran are now the heads of DC Studios.

Dario Argento’s Italian horror classic Phenomena (also known as Creepers) is headed to the small screen, with Variety reporting that Italy’s Titanus Production is behind the series.
Phenomena: The Series is said to “reimagine” the world of Dario Argento’s 1985 horror movie, delivering “a unique blend of supernatural intrigue and high-stakes drama.”
From writers and creators Nicola Guaglianone and Menotti, the series “follows Jennifer Corvino, an American student at a fencing academy in the glamorous Dolomites, who harbors a secret psychic link with insects. As Jennifer navigates the challenges of being the new girl at school, she must also confront a series of brutal murders.
“With her unique abilities, Jennifer must learn to harness her power to stop the killer, save her comrades, and survive.”
It was future Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly who played Jennifer Corvino in Argento’s movie, with the film’s cast also including Donald Pleasence, Daria Nicolodi, and Patrick Bauchau.
“We have reimagined the visionary world of Dario Argento’s iconic film, bringing it to life with a fresh twist that blends the sinister undertone with the pop aesthetic,” the show’s producers said in a statement shared by Variety this morning. “With the work of successful writers, Nicola Guaglianone and Menotti, our goal is to make a compelling series, with a bold, state-of-the-art aesthetic, honoring the original but speaking to a new generation.”
The series project is currently being pitched to prospective partners and broadcasters.
