Isabelle Fuhrman Starring in ‘Die by Night’ Featuring Monsters from ‘Smile 2’ Creature Designer

While we wait for Orphan 3, which was officially announced last November, franchise star Isabelle Fuhrman has set up her next project. Fuhrman will star in the thriller Die by Night.

Variety details this afternoon that Ben Hardy (Bohemian Rhapsody, Unicorns) and Scoot McNairy (A Complete Unknown, Nightbitch) will also star in the dystopian movie.

The outlet also reports, “The feature is being launched by Protagonist Pictures ahead of the upcoming EFM in Berlin. Protagonist is handling international sales while UTA Independent Film Group is representing North American rights.”

Die by Night is set over the course of one night in a world where “the only way to survive to see a new day is to trust each other and stay in the light until you make it to The Wall.”

Creatures known as The Horde hunt down surviving humans in the dark in the film’s post-apocalyptic world, where long stretches of darkness plunge the world into chaos.

Runaway Lucia (Fuhrman) must find her way to The Wall where safety awaits, while an injured but determined Barry (Hardy) promises to get them there. But The Horde are not the only threat out there. The Clans — tribes of people whose survival and prosperity depends on selling and trading humans to gain strength in numbers — also stand in their way.

Rod Blackhurst, who wrote last year’s Night Swim, is writing and directing Die by Night.

Die by Night promises to be a nail-biting, action-packed thriller with non-stop jump scares,” said producer Dave Bishop. “Rod’s vision of a dark, dystopian, post-apocalyptic new world, combined with the terrifying hordes of creatures conceived by the industry’s top designers, will reach out and grab the audience not letting go until the credits roll.”

The film’s creatures are being created by concept artist Vincent Proce, who has worked on films including Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, It Chapter 2, Smile, Azrael, and Smile 2.

Adaptation of Horror Comic ‘Dungeon’ in the Works from ‘Late Night with the Devil’ Producers

IDW Entertainment is teaming up with Steven Schneider and Roy Lee’s Spooky Pictures (Late Night with the Devil) to adapt the horror comic Dungeon by Scott Snyder and Hayden ShermanTHR reports today.

The serial killer tale ran as a five-issue comic miniseries in 2023 and 2024.

Dungeon begins “when a family moves from the Big Apple to upstate New York to escape the hustle and bustle. However, their father’s dream of a quiet rural life is shattered when he discovers a dungeon underneath their land, filled with torture devices, weapons, and a threatening message on the wall that reads, ‘Tell No One.’ The discovery sets up a paranoid serial kidnapping mystery where no one, not even the father’s child, is safe, and not even the FBI agent assigned to the case can help.”

Schneider and Lee will produce the adaptation along with Daniel Kendrick of IDW Entertainment, the screen arm of IDW Publishing. The producers are prolific in the horror space, with Lee having most recently produced Barbarian, Strange Darling, and this weekend’s Companion. Schneider has worked on the Insidious and Paranormal Activity movies and is currently set to executive produce the upcoming Silent Night, Deadly Night reimagining.

“There’s no shortage of serial killer stories in the marketplace; the challenge is finding one that is both terrifying and goes to places we haven’t seen before,” Spooky’s Steven Schneider told THR. “Dungeon is it. And even as longtime fans and producers in the genre, we found ourselves haunted by what we read. This is our Silence of the Lambs and Se7en.”

Dungeon isn’t the only Snyder horror comic creation getting adapted to screen; Rob Savage was recently announced as the director for the upcoming adaptation of Dark Horse comic Night of the Ghoul.

Stay tuned for additional details on Dungeon as they arrive.

Writer-director Alex Kahuam is the first Mexican filmmaker to make a feature film without cuts in the US.

Noel Douglas Orput, Merrick McCartha, Melissa Diaz, Daniel Kuhlman, John Paul Medrano, and Spencer Langston round out the cast.

“The scenario was very enticing because there are no cuts; it’s an hour and a half and no cuts,” Raimi told Bloody Disgusting. “And I felt capable of doing such a thing because I got my training in theater first. I started doing theater when I was 16, so from about the age of 16 through about 22, I was doing almost exclusively theater. I started doing films from there. So that was nice knowing that I was capable of that kind of stamina in front of the camera.”

Failure! screened at the 2023 inaugural Fantastic Pavilion Gala, the genre showcase of the Cannes Film Market, and world premiered at Frightfest 2023. It also screened at Morbido Film Fest, Fantaspoa, and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
