OMD Santiago really did splice Cerveza Cristal beer ads into Star Wars when it aired on Chilean Canal 13, much to the disgruntlement of George Lucas’ lawyers.
On the way from 20th Century is a heist thriller titled Eenie Meanie, and Deadline reports that Samara Weaving (Ready or Not, Scream 6) and Karl Glusman (Watcher) will star.
Shawn Simmons (“Wayne”) is directing the film, and Simmons also wrote the script.
Deadline notes that Eenie Meanie is likely to debut on Hulu.
“The film follows a former teenage getaway driver who is dragged back into her unsavory past when a former employer offers her a chance to save the life of her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend.”
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, Deadpool) are producing.
A favorite in the horror world, Samara Weaving has a handful of projects headed our way soon, also including horror movie Azrael and the 1980s-set action-thriller Bella.

Do you need a new best friend? Lionsgate and Blumhouse introduce Chauncey in this week’s upcoming theatrically released horror movie Imaginary, a cute teddy bear with a severe mean streak. A new image finally gives a better look at Chauncey’s beastly side.
The villain in Imaginary, Chauncey the bear, was brought to life via the award-winning animatronic and practical effects house Spectral Motion. The fully articulated teddy bear runs the gamut of emotions, often to adorable effect. But when Chauncey gets mad? Well, you get the Chauncey Beast, played by Predator actor Dane DiLiegro (Prey).

DeWanda Wise (Jurassic World Dominion) stars in and produces Imaginary, which is scheduled for theatrical release on Friday, March 8, 2024.
In the horror movie, “Jessica moves back into her childhood home with her family. Her youngest stepdaughter Alice develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.”
The film also stars Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, Veronica Falcon, and Betty Buckley.
Blumhouse’s Jason Blum produced, with Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf, Kick-Ass 2, Truth or Dare, Fantasy Island, The Curse of Bridge Hollow) producing and directing.
The screenplay is by Jeff Wadlow & Greg Erb & Jason Oremland. Ryan Turek Executive Produces Wadlow’s Imaginary.

‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Writer Teases Upcoming Sequel; A Slasher for the Social Media Age?
As we learned last year, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) is on board to direct the next installment in the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise for Sony, with Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.) on board to write the screenplay. We don’t yet know if the original cast will be back, but the film had been originally announced as a legacy sequel of sorts.
Speaking with Collider this week, writer Leah McKendrick remained pretty tight lipped about her I Know What You Did Last Summer plans, but she did provide some low-key insights.
McKendrick told the outlet, “…no spoilers, but I will say that I think if you’re an OG fan like me and you, I think you’re gonna be happy. I think you’re gonna get it.”
She also teased a social media aspect to the upcoming sequel, something that of course wasn’t present in the original movies because, well, social media didn’t exist at the time.
McKendrick teases, “At its core, I think it really reckons with some big ideas about hero and villain, right and wrong, how your skeletons come back to haunt you. And in the age of the internet and the age where fame is such a revered concept, the creation of TikTok and social media, who is Julie James in a world where there are no secrets anymore?”
“I already feel like I’m saying too much, but I think at its core, if you watch the original… I obviously watched 8 million times while working on it… but it’s fun,” McKendrick continues. “It’s just a popcorn, wild ride. It’s campy at times, Jennifer Love Hewitt is so hot, Freddie Prinze Jr. is so hot. Sarah Michelle [Gellar], Ryan [Phillippe], they’re so gorgeous. It’s like beautiful people behaving badly. You just can’t get enough of it. There’s a lot of that in this film.”

Jim Gillespie directed the original I Know What You Did Last Summer back in 1997, written by Kevin Williamson (Scream) and based on Lois Duncan’s novel. The film spawned sequels in 1998 and 2006. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. only came back for that first sequel.
In the 1997 slasher movie, “Four young friends bound by a tragic accident are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.”
More recently, the franchise returned with Amazon’s short-lived television series.

The breakout Korean blockbuster Exhuma is getting a release here in the United States, Bloody Disgusting has learned. We’ve also been provided with the film’s official US release trailer.
From leading international and indie film distributor Well Go USA Entertainment, Exhuma opens in Los Angeles March 15 and expands across U.S. theaters March 22.
The film—which surpassed 6 million admissions during its first 11 days in Korean theaters—is distributed by Showbox in its home territory.
Exhuma is directed by Jang Jae-Hyun (Svaha: The Sixth Finger) and stars popular Korean actors CHOI Min-Sik (Oldboy, I Saw the Devil), KIM Go-Eun (Hero, Little Women), YOO Hai-Jin (A Taxi Driver), and LEE Do-Hyun (Prison Playbook, Sweet Home).
In the film, “When a renowned shaman (KIM Go-Eun) and her protégé (Lee Do-hyun) are hired by a wealthy, enigmatic family, they begin investigating the cause of a disturbing supernatural illness that affects only the first-born children of each generation. With the help of a knowledgeable mortician (YOO Hai-jin) and the country’s most revered geomancer (CHOI Min-sik), they soon trace the affliction’s origin to a long-hidden family grave located on sacred ground.
“Sensing an ominous aura surrounding the burial site, the team opts to exhume and relocate the ancestral remains immediately. But as something much darker emerges, they soon discover what befalls those who dare to mess with the wrong grave.”

A24 is back in select theaters this week with Love Lies Bleeding, a revenge thriller from Saint Maud director Rose Glass that earned rave reviews on the festival scene.
Fresh off the World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2024, Love Lies Bleeding is coming to theaters March 8. A new behind the scenes featurette that includes interviews with the cast teases some of the extreme violence and weirdness ahead.
Katy O’Brian stars alongside Kristen Stewart (Underwater) in the upcoming film from A24, which is said to be “a romance fueled by ego, desire and the American Dream.”
I wrote in my Sundance review, “With a visionary at the helm and an impressive cast willing to follow along with every wild turn thrown at them, Love Lies Bleeding makes for a captivating ‘80s set crime thriller unafraid to get deeply weird and ultra-violent.”
In the film, “Reclusive gym manager Lou falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Las Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.”
Kristen Stewart, Katy O’Brian (“The Walking Dead”), Dave Franco (“The After Party”), Ed Harris (“Westworld”), Anna Baryshnikov (“Dickinson”) and Jena Malone (“Goliath”) star.
Acclaimed director and double BAFTA nominee Rose Glass teams with A24 and Film4 for the new film. Glass directed from a script she co-wrote with Weronika Tofilska.
A24 will produce alongside Andrea Cornwell for Lobo Films and Oliver Kassman for Escape Plan Productions. A24 will handle the global release of the film.
