‘The Outwaters: Detective Audio Version’ – New Version of Found Footage Hit Coming to Unnamed Footage Festival!

The full lineup for this year’s Unnamed Footage Festival was announced by Dread Central today, revealing that a new version of Bloody Disgusting, Cineverse, SCREAMBOX and director Robbie Banfitch’s found footage horror movie The Outwaters will debut at the fest!

It’s titled The Outwaters: Detective Audio Version, and a sneak peek is coming to Unnamed Footage Festival in March. The official press release previews, “Often in found footage horror, the images we view are presented as evidence in a case, but the greater narrative stops there. UFF is bringing Robbie Banfitch’s cosmic horror masterpiece back to the festival for a badge-holder-only sneak peek of a new iteration of The Outwaters that transforms it into an entirely different viewing experience. Now the visuals are paired with the observations of two investigators, Detective Stacey and Detective Nolan, reviewing the footage, trying to uncover what really happened and how the existence of this footage is even possible.”

Banfitch tells us that the Detective Audio Version is “not a new cut or edit, it’s a new experience.” He clarifies, “It’s the film [you’ve seen] but instead of the film’s audio we hear two detectives in-world discussing the video while sifting through their evidence box.”

“So it’s like another layer to the world. And like watching a new movie,” he teases.

On a related note, The Outwaters also opens in Mexican theaters tomorrow. And Robbie Banfitch has a short story in the queer horror anthology Bury Your Gays: An Anthology of Tragic Queer Horror, releasing next month. You can pre-order your copy of the book now.

The Outwaters is now streaming on SCREAMBOX.

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’ Sequel Dated for October 2026 Release

In addition to the upcoming spinoff series “Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (it’s coming to Paramount+ this summer), the world of last year’s hugely entertaining Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will expand with an official sequel in 2026.

Paramount will release the untitled Mutant Mayhem sequel on October 9, 2026.

In last year’s movie, “After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.”

Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu and Brady Noon voice the roles of Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael, respectively. The cast also includes Jackie Chan as Splinter, Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, John Cena as Rocksteady, Ice Cube as Superfly, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom, and Seth Rogen as Bebop.

Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which was produced by “The Boys” duo of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Brendan O’Brien wrote the screenplay.

The new animated project was a co-production between Nickelodeon Animation Studio through their Nickelodeon Movies banner, Paramount Animation and Point Grey Pictures.

‘Vicious’ – Dakota Fanning Will Star in 2025 Horror Movie from ‘The Strangers’ Director Bryan Bertino

In addition to Ishana Night Shyamalan’s upcoming The Watchers, Dakota Fanning is next teaming up with director Bryan Bertino (The Strangers, Dark and the Wicked).

Variety reports that Fanning will star in Vicious, the next horror film from Bertino.

Vicious has already been dated for release on August 8, 2025.

“The plot follows a young woman who must spend the night fighting for her existence as she slips down a disturbing rabbit hold contained inside a mysterious gift from a late-night visitor.”

Bryan Bertino wrote the script and will be directing the film, an Atlas Independent production. Melinda Whitaker serves as executive producer, with Richard Suckle also producing.

Editor’s Note: A previous version of this report listed ‘Dakota Johnson’ as the star of Vicious instead of ‘Dakota Fanning.’ Apologies for the mistake and any confusion it caused!
